Hello Everyone.

I'm trying to work out if a VXR8 will fit into the single garage at my house.

I understand the overall dimensions of the saloon are 4941mm long and 2174mm wide.

This would be a tight fit in my garage, especially width-wise.

Could someone tell me what the width of the car is with the door mirrors folded in please? I'm trying to find out if this will give me enough width clearance to open the driver's door and get in and out with the car parked in the garage.

Many thanks,

Paul.

Thanks for your reply.

I saw that as well, but another website gave the full width as 2174mm, including the door mirrors.

I think I'm clutching at straws somewhat because the maximum width of my garage is 2.4m, which wouldn't leave much space to enter/exit the car even if the width with the mirrors folded in is nearer the 1.9m width listed, which I suspect is the width of the body of the car not including the door mirrors.

Many thanks,

Paul.

If it helps my Ro (just about) fits in a council garage. As a coupe it has very long doors so I can squeeze out just about. I have a tennis ball on string hanging from the roof so when it moves I know I have about 3-4 inches before the back wall. I always reverse in which may help you also. I have bonded that interlocking matting to the side walls and back walls, to negate any dinks and scratches when I open the door and back the car in.

Mick ' Snowolf' who used to come on here kept his in a garage, he had about 18" of clearance and used to park with the passenger door tight to the wall. He also had a mirror at the end of the garage to help with how close he was to the end wall.
Mick is on facebook a lot but on any HSV bit.

i have piece of wood screwed to the floor so i can’t go back too far , carpet on the wall for the drivers door , both my garages are in effect standard 70’s council size , no issues with the monaro with mirrors out , the maloo garage is slightly longer but not actually needed , maloo reverses in mirrors out

Thanks for your replies.

I think the Monaro is a bit smaller than the VXR8.

Are there any VXR8 owners on this Forum who could run a tape measure across the width of the car both with the mirrors out and folded in please, just to confirm the exact widths?

I just wanted to get my ducks in a row, so to speak, with regards to VXR8 storage before I get the car.

Many thanks,

Paul.

Thanks for that Dave VXR8 - much appreciated.

At about 7'2" the VXR8 is certainly a wide car - I'm gonna need a bigger garage!

I thought this would be the case but it's great to know for sure - it at least saves me from clearing out my current garage only to find that the car doesn't useably fit when I get it later.

Thanks again,

Paul.

Goldie used to fit his in his garage by parking it half way in and then pushing it the rest of the way in, as he couldn't open the door once it was inside hehe proper dedication that thumbup
