Given what I spent on my Monaro, I should have got one of these instead. A standard VXR with a rubbish, non intercooled 112 blower.

I have thought about selling now mine is perfect but would never ask for almost £50k !

Sadly you are correct, but we all knew what we have spent wouldn't bring value to our cars on re-sale.

Having stated the above I have a marker for mine when sale time comes, and I have all the time in the world because like you Wormus I have a perfect car to sell unlike the 2 currently for sale, and there is definitely a market for cars like ours, good Monaro's are hard to find now.

No one is going to pay what the 2 currently are up for sale due to the vast amount of work that needs doing.

indeed, mine has all original paint but with a few stone chips to the lower edge of the bonnet. I'm wondering the difference between touching them in vs respray. Still only done 35k miles. 600whp but drives beautifully.

Mine has totally original paint too, I am on 33k and she is currently tucked up like yours in the garage.

My front bumper is a little stone chipped and ideally I would like to respray but that would be OCD therefore not needed.

I am a big fan of yours and what you have done, I have a friend in Australia who has the same as yours (CV8) but can only dream of what you have.

Wormus's car has always been the stand-out Monaro for me and not because our colour is the bestsmile
The journey you went through to reach reliable high power showed dedication.
I haven't heard any more about the twin turbo cars, are they still running?
Mine's is still in perfect nic and tucked up in sorn with low 30k miles.

Asking and getting are two different things though.

Sounds like a mental price to me. Realistically worth half that ?

Ad says super car performance for Mondeo money? £50k?laugh
Lovely car, but £50k come on?
And why have the rear lights been swapped out for CV8 clusters?

Wow that's a good spot, never realised they were different had to check mine to see the difference, you would think I would know that after 13 years of ownership lol.

I wouldn't pay half that Stevie personally given the amount of work that needs doing, and as Wormus says non intercooled that would be a problem for me although I have seen a few were a cooler has been added.

Fact is though these cars will always bring a premium.

What am I missing? What is all this work that needs doing?

Saw this car sell on collecting classics, start with APs completely shot, only one picture on add of brakes see for yourself, the body work is simply awful and needs a lot of work, don't really want to go further as I don't want to get into trouble.

Fact is after years of ownership I know all the weak points everywhere on the Monaro plus what needs doing as a matter of preventive maintenance, I have the receipts from the fish to prove.

Never understood why a non factory car that lacks a much needed charge cooler, can fetch this money. Yes I know Vauxhall gave it their blessing but really.......not even really legit is it! Way over priced in my opinion. Mine has all the mods this has and way more but would sell for a fraction of this. Only a nutter would pay that sort of money. I didn't realise they did the 500 in Silver. I thought they only came in Blackconfused

500 must refer to how many times its overpriced by as I can't see that ever reaching 500 BHP without a charge cooler. Unless you fancy detonating the engine obviously!

IMO it won't fetch it. It's just a mental price with zero justification.

I think this was the only silver one, plus a couple in red. There's a red 500 for sale now as well. £36k still seems a touch steep but a lot more reasonable than £50k! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202203033...

That car now seems to have been sold, good ones are becoming increasingly hard to find.

I heard on the grapevine that Vauxhall UK are selling the first (No 1) VXR500 from their collection, so this is the original numero uno car. Anyone else heard about this?

i know someone who enquired on the red one, turns out it wasnt a Greens official VXR500, their was only 1 red VXR500 and its not this one. the only paperwork they had was for fittting a Harrop SC when it was a used ex VX demo car at 3 months old. it didnt have the 500 pack fitted at then, just a S/C and exhaust. assume car was removed from sale straight after they realised. seems it was on SOR and gave it back to customer.
The silver Ex VX one for sale isnt an official Greens supplied car either, it was one of VX's own press cars that they gave to Greens when it was a few months old and fitted 500 same parts, they used it a bit then stuck it in their museum to be neglected and then sold it for drugs money laugh

Wow very interesting, just goes to show you need to be careful and do your research.

I have been thinking about selling, but just been out in mine today changed my mind a well sorted supercharged Monaro is very special indeed, I need to drive it more!
