New to the monaro scene, mine is due a plug change and I am after a definitive answer to what plugs I need and preferably with the code too if it's ngk as I need them ASAP. Mine is running 405hp if that makes a difference. I have checked all over and I can't find a proper answer to what I need to buy. Can anyone please help me :P tia

plenty of threads...and depends what you want to spend.

BCPR6ES would be fine for a cheap copper plug. But there can be loads of options. I'd stay away from the US style taper seats, as I think they're crap. And they're far less common here anyway

have a look on rock auto , i went platinum , they were not too much ,they listed the plugs as the gm original fit , the coppers last a lot less , platinum are 50 to 60 k miles , it’s worth ordering some new ht leads , if they have been on the car for a while they tend to snap , i bought some ht lead heat socks too , rock auto normally deliver within a few days , but always use the fed ex shipping option so the price you pay includes tax’s etc

As above, Rock Auto is your place, I bought 16 plugs the other year for about £36 delivered and arrived in a few days. Cheaper and faster than anything from ebay etc 😂

Personally don't understand the point of getting plugs that last 60,000 miles, not many of us drive the cars more than 12,000 miles a year (most probably less than half that?) so presumably the plugs will be changed more than once every 5-10 years anyway?

So yeah, I just use copper ones, 400hp from 6 litres is hardly pushing the limits of ignition hehegetmecoat

I will say that stevieturbo knows his onions, so probably best to just do whatever he says, he won't lead you wrong thumbup

I choose to use non OEM fitments purely for ease of supply.

Either way, if you really want to go OEM, just use the TR55 or TR6 which will likely need imported.

I just don't see the point bothering importing something that I can buy 5 minutes from the house, or within the UK. Plus as said, I despise the taper seat plugs the OEM use on them. They were crap on Fiesta's in the 80's...they're still crap lol
I prefer normal "gasketed" plugs we're used to in the UK, Europe and Jap cars.

But there are literally dozens of different plugs you can use.

I personally just use cheap Denso or NGK's on my twin turbo. As above, are anyone doing huge miles to really need or justify expensive plugs ? Probably not. Will they really make a difference in these engines ? no

And with low miles, it's probably not a bad idea to change plugs etc every couple of years anyway same with a lot of service items that should be changed with miles, or time, whichever comes first.

it’s taken me about 10 years to do around 35 k miles , i changed the plugs recently but on taking them out they were fine , hardly any wear , so it appears plug wise mileage is much more important than age , running around 430 bhp

The answer is AC Delco 41-110

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ACDelco-41-110-Profession...

Note GM Original equipment.

These are what AAS in Newcastle (an extremely well respected engineering company) fitted to my 5.7 on its full service, the engine runs beautifully.

Age can be an issue depending on the environment the car is stored, from damp, corrosion etc.
