How do all.

To bore you all - 5 years ago I nearly bought a stunning cv8 in black with a couple of tasteful upgrades from Northern Ireland. The weekend I was to book the flight and ferry my darling wife advised we were expecting our first child. So, out went the Monaro dream, in came the Volvo V60 diesel.

Now I’m in a position to revisit so thought I’d put the feelers out and see if it leads anywhere.

I’m after something pretty specific, I prefer the standard lines of a CV8 without the nostrils, I’m in no rush at all which helps given the lack of builds……if your considering selling in a few months just let me know - no doubt I’ll still be looking!

Same goes for me jumping into a “sketchy” one just because it’s available, I’m more than happy to wait.

So, I’m looking for a:-
CV8 Monaro
Ideally Impulse Blue.
Ideally sub 70k (I know I shouldn’t get hung up on mileage but I do).
Decent history and condition.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to score one with mods at a cheap price - original is fine. Although if you’ve got one with some mods I’m happy to listen.
Not written off.
Ideally original wheels.
Happy to travel most places in the UK.

If you’ve got one and have an idea on what you want for it, or are thinking of selling in a month, two or three drop me a line.

Bonus points - if you fancy a 2005 Saab 93 auto estate with 71k on the clock and the 2.8v6 (tenuous Holden link there…..) as a part ex, all the better although not essential.

I know I’ll get the “No point waiting for the colour…..why not look at 100k+ cars.” In reality I’ve been waiting ages for one anyway so waiting a bit longer isn’t going to hurt. If nothing turns up then I can I always reconsider. We all have the picture in our heads and that’s what I’m looking for.

Cheers for reading,

As you mentioned , i would bin the colour idea , condition and mileage is way more important , mods are a good idea as you will want to mod it , so buying one with mods already on it will save you a lot of money , a lot of mods but not all mods , will be courtesy monkfish ( big shame they went ) , the bits i’ve done on mine were brakes , with extra power it was either do them or crash as brakes were horrendous , 3.9 diff , coilovers , quicker rack , focus pack ( exhaust , sports cat , bigger intake , headers , and re map ) so an extra 100 bhp , 245 tyres , road response pack front and rear , cars do come up , prices vary , one nice one with same mods as mine came up and price was good .

I'd say since you are not in a hurry to buy, you could definitely wait for the perfect car to come up for sale!

I have searched a long time for what I considered to be the perfect example of a CV8 Monaro.
Red or yellow, final model year/small boot/nostril bonnet, largely stock or just tastefully upgraded, low miles and and long-term owner.

It all worked out perfectly in the end and I am still as happy as can be with my childhood dream car 😊

Same thing happened with my 9-3, everyone said I was an idiot for wanting a pre tax hike 2.8 with low miles. 3 months later I had one……and I love it but. It’s not a V8, it’s been mapped too so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s quicker than a stock cv8. But I don’t care. “There ain’t replacement for displacement”. Your comment has made my day. How’s to show, if you wait. It will come.

I like your style. I had a blue CV8 and liked it's simple understated looks. Not flashy, no spoilers/side skirts, etc, just clean lines.

I think it's one of the few colours that suits the CV8 better.
