Sorry to come just after the 20k post!

My vxr8 has just sat in the garage for the last 4 years running up about 4K miles.

I am putting it in for a service in my remote but good garage in Oban, any ideas or recommendations about oil and what belts/chains need done?

I have had the car for 10 years with no belts being done.

I also still have the fast indicator flash, do I need parts to sort this?

Much appreciated

Cheers

No rubber cam belts, the chain is bullet proof for low to average mileage.
Water pump and aircon belts will be a visual for any cracking. Widely available by size marked on the existing belts.
I think the rapid flash was solved by plugging in a short, extra wiring loom between the existing loom and each rear, light cluster. The insert has some electronics to fix the problem.
Someone else will know where those inserts came from.

if it was me , an oil change mobil 1 5/? or a good 10/40 , brake and clutch fluid , plus coolant change , no point changing belts and water pumps if they are ok , if you need parts use Rockauto who are good , quick delivery and always pay the fed ex route so that is your landed cost with all taxes etc is paid already

Walkinshaw will sell a piece of wiring that cures the fast flashing for about £80.
Easy to install near the rear cluster.

There is nothing special about the belts, any auto supplier should have them. Your garage should be able to get a part number off the old belt, if it cant be read its a pk 1900 or Pk1950 or thereabouts.
