New owner, needs a bit of work to bring this beast up to standard but it’s underway. Incredible cars to drive, such a blast!

Welcome to the fold and congrats on choosing the best colour VXR!
Looks very nice.
What's the plan for it then?

cheers, going to work on it over the winter months, more so general maintenance and repairs.

Rear seat stitching split, out for repair. There's a fair bit of tidying up, few soft spots in rear arches (just at the front edge where the sill meets). It has been previously undersealed at some stage but there are some parts I need further investigation on, front chassis legs look ok however a few patches need cleaned up. Section between the chassis rail top edge and front arch (viewed from the engine bay) is a tad flaky. Headlights need restored and rear light cluster side support needs repaired - currently broken. Wheels could do with a refurb, suspension could do with a clean up.

I suppose it is a 16 year old car and some problems are to be expected........#savetheV8's

Good on you for sorting it out, sounds like you're doing a proper job smile

Also, is that 2/3rds of a transit van in the background? hehe

There was a little bit of pitting on the top of my driver's side chassis rail, sanded it back as part of some pre-paint prep and treated it with Kurust just for peace of mind, can see where it's shiny on the rail as where I sanded it.

I had a beer mat sized hole on the strut tower where it meets the inner arch ,under the fuse box.
Also another spot was at the bottom of the scuttle, where it meets the back of the front arch. You would see it if you remove the arch liners, behind the front wheel.
Its a good shout to remove the sill covers, and have a look.
I had to do a few patches there, as it rusted around the holes for the fasteners.

Cheers for the comments / advice guys, I guess there will be a few surprises behind the sill covers. Just hope the overall extent is fixable 🤞. Thankfully will be garaged until sorted.

Don't assume the worst!
I recently had my skirts and bumpers off for paint and there was absolutely nothing nasty happening at all behind.
Otherwise as you probably already know, anything is fixable. smile

You can get them low tax by just buying one that was registered pre-March 06. They were all manufactured in the same batches and shipped over at the same time, just some weren't sold for a while.

Guys, have managed to speak to 2 previous owners of this car which is checking out ok. Problem is the Monkfish service records prior 2011 are missing as is the service book. Post 2011, there is paperwork on all work done. I guess with Monkfish wrapped up there is no way of getting records?

You could try contacting Andy or Roger at Pedders UK, they used to be Monkfish. If you're lucky they may still have some records.
Otherwise I'd say not to worry too much about history prior to 2011, nice to have yes, but not too relevant now.

Yeah monkfish1 (Roger) on here is your best bet, but I don't think they have kept all those sorts of records. Good luck either way smile

Monkfish records are gone sadly, I tried a couple of years ago.

Started into getting the front arches cleaned up, Pedders suspension fitted, spring label manufacture date 23/12/15, has been undersealed, prior 2011 by Monkfish I suspect, few shabby bits to sort

Thats not been undersealed by me. Or anyone else from the look of it.

All looks factory standard.

Cheers, I thought that there was no Underseal on them at all, the front arches appear as in photos and general underside and rear arches appear coated with a black layer of bitumen ‘type’ seal.

Perhaps this is standard, if so, it has held up reasonably well. Will be time to get a fresh coat on following inspection and a few repairs.

Yes, that is standard from the factory.
