Monaros Appreciating $ In Australia
Discussion

I might have heard that Monaros with a Vauxhall badge show a premium in Australia over their numerous Holden versions.
Maybe our fellow P'headers in Oz could confirm or deny that scenario?
Interestingly I'd heard the opposite. The ones over here aren't considered 'true' Holdens / HSVs, and also are assumed to be rusty because of our climate.Maybe our fellow P'headers in Oz could confirm or deny that scenario?

It looks like you can still get a very tidy low km Monaro in OZ without too much trouble. The prices do seem to have gone up as they appear to be double the price of a UK car.
I suppose with local manufacturers having shut down and electric cars now on the horizon it would make sense to get a good car now.
If history is anything to go by the desirability and therefore prices of Ford and GM muscle cars are bound to go up.
Here in the UK it's a different story of course, Monaros have increased in value but bloody hell its been a slow process.
As for the number of good cars over here it's anyone's guess, maybe half say 400, the rest will have been scrapped or are now very tatty and heading towards becoming a parts car.
Let's just say I'm happy I've still got mine and its in fine fettle ( at the moment ) I can't believe it's been over 14 years since I signed the dotted line.
I did check out the price of a brand new Ford Mustang Mach1, a school boy dream car of mine..sadly they are around £65k.
I couldn't afford one when I was 9yrs old ( even with a paper round ) and I sure as Hell can't afford one now damn it.

Prices on the rise? surely there is no getting away from the fact our cars can't be bought for peanuts?

A bit of “may” and “believe”. So more of an “I think this will get clicks” article than any real facts.
