Quick rack VXR8?

Hi all,

I have a VE SS Ute and would like to upgrade the steering rack. Would the VXR8 rack be an upgrade? Or are there other options.

I know my VY SS Ute has what people are calling quick rack as standard and is the same as the HSV quick rack but not sure about the VE SS Ute. Could be a Ute thing I'm not sure.

Ok thanks very much for the reply. If you could, the next time you’re in your Ute would you mind checking how many turns it is lock to lock? I’ve not driven a VXR8 so can’t compare but I had assumed that HSV would have improved the standard Holden rack as it’s a bit on the slow side.

I won't be able to as my Ute is surrounded by lots of stuff in the garage at the moment but it is the same as the HSV Monaro and I can't remember what they are lock to lock now. I would prefer a proper quick rack as really they are not what I would call a quick rack. The CV8 Monaro must be like a ship trying to get turned. Give Pedders U.K a call they will be able to help you.

Unsure if this is of any help to you.
My CV8 Monaro (VZ-gen, small boot) has the Pedders quick rack, which is 2,5 turns from lock to lock. Standard rack was a little over 3 turns lock to lock.

The change on my Monaro from standard to 'quick' was like night any day. It immediately felt like that was how the steering should have always been ( if you get my meaning ).

No. All VE are the same ratio.
