Haven't posted on here for years, but should it be of interest i've finally (again after 5+ years) gotten round to making this work.
VXR8 wheels with thanks to Mark 007 if he's still on here...

Originally expected this to require a full mini-tub, but got away with sectioning the floor pan to move the arch over just enough. It's tight, but if it ain't tight it ain't right... right?

On the stops. Some inner bumper edge trimming required.

Spot the difference... Exhaust tips ugly sorry, half way through remaking the rear boxes.

Arch clearance after some trimming to the spot welds.

Fills the arches a little better

Are they actually Mark's old wheels or did he just help you out with info?

Looks like a decent amount of work but has turned out well (no pun intended hehe)

I'm not a particular fan of the R8 wheels but they certainly fill the arches well on yours thumbup

No doubt the extra 30 - 40mm of rubber will help progress too, good to see you're still tinkering with the car

Were a spare set I believe from when he did his.

285's feel better than 245's, how much real difference it makes will need to wait for the next Speed Trials. smile

Looks fantastic and a worthwhile mod I think.
Should shave a few moments off the 0-60 dash, traction being an issue with our cars.

I have had 9.5 x 19 with 275/30/19 on the rear of my VT for 12 years. No trimming. Not sure if the rear well of a VT is wider than a Monaro ( I doubt it) The GTS-R does run a far bit of camber. Offset is critical.

Any Images of the actual wheel well work, Getting some wider rims and tyres on mine is on my list of thing to do. In the next few week I will be getting my new wheelrite tool on her to try and workout what is possible.

Realised after I’d not taken any decent photos, but couple of bad shots below showing the cut on the floor pan side of the rear well inboard of the spring perch.
Sectioned, overlapped and tapped over. Then couple of spot welds and panel bonded for good measure. Seam sealed and painted to finish up.
Gave me an extra 3/4” inboard. The upper part of the well responded well to a club hammer for final clearance.

That last pic showing the new wheels filling the arches is close to perfection.. nicely done.

What’s the full spec? I assume it’s got an appropriate bhp figure to justify the work that’s gone into fitting the wider rears..!

Built forged motor with TVS 2300 at around 14psi. Has horsepower. Traction was challenging plus always felt the 245's looked a little undersized. With this can get to 285's without 'major' surgery so happy smile

Sounds potent.

I’ve experienced a similar spec car and understand why you might like a little more traction!

As an aside, have you had Luis take a look at the map on yours?

And written some tutorials on tuning the (comparatively uncommon and thus less supported) E40 ECU us LS2 owners are stuck with as well thumbup

Think Stig did a little more in this space, but thanks for the nod smile

Another name from a bygone era - I had Stig's old Monaro before I had kids and traded up to my current VXR8...

Was a good car that, still miss it..
