Hi all,

just fitted :smash: holden badges to my CV8 looks as it should  apart from the Vauxhall badge at the back :(. Has anyone taken it off yet? can u get a Holden one?

The job is easy in fact the plastic on the front grill is moulded in the Holden badge shape giving a relief effect to the badge. I used the old "heat them with the other 1/2s HD and then slide dental floss behind" trick, worked a treat. The wheels are heavy though

Sorry sent before ready.

Did you mean the Vauxhall lettering on the back (just sticky taped) or the roundel?

Hi Yorkkie,

Are you willing to say how much you paid for the badges, and what did you get... front, rear and 4 wheel centres? Can you change the one in the centre of the steering wheel?

With regards to the Vauxhall wording on the back...looking at this pic the Oz Monaros seem to be badged slightly differently... www.seriouswheels.com/2004/2004-Holden-VZ-Monaro-Yellow-RA-Studio-1280x960.htm

However, Holden badges are available...

Or you could be a bit cheeky and dress it with an HSV badge... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29716&item=4559888205&rd=1

Cheers,

Neil

This is for the 2004 car.
The actual badges aren't too exspensive...the wheel caps do cost a bit though!
The Monaro hasn't changed shape too much in 4 years.
There are a few odd badges around that can be picked up, like bright chrome MONARO badges(from the series I) for the sides as opposed to dull chrome. Also CV8R badges which are black Chrome? are around the place!
HSV badges are a bit harder to get hold of unless you have a VIN number or shop at certain places!
The badge in the middle of the steering wheel can not be removed...too change that involves a whole new Holden airbag.
Don't think there is a "HOLDEN" badge on the car at all.
As for the back of the car pretty sure it has a CV8 badge on the right and nothing on the left.

2005 car is much the same. Think it might have a different CV8 badge on the back.

Replaced all the badges on mine, except the steering wheel air bag one. New bonnet, wheel centres & boot badge. Also I've removed all the uk dealer stickers. I removed the "Vauxhall" lettering on the left hand side of the boot and replaced it with a "CV8" badge. There is no "Holden" name tag on a Monaro. I had some new numberplates made up with www.holden.com.au in text along the bottom of the plate.

Thanks guys, I replaced front back and wheel centres, The steering wheel does look difficult and I wouldnt want to create any safety issues... What about the aluminium kick plates on the door sills? They are probably too costly to replace (my god I have turned into my father).

GSE

does the Vauxhall lettering come off easily? I will use the same "hairdryer and floss trick" if it does

I took my "Vauxhall" & "Monaro" badges off the rear.
The "Vauhall" is easy to remove, I just pulled it off & used hot soapy water to remove the sticky left behind, then polished the area where it had been.
The "Monaro" badge was silghtly harder but I did the same as above.

Looks Good.

Just need to fit the Holden badges all round.

The steering wheel "Vauxhall" badge can't be removed from what I've heard, its a complete new air bag job but they are able to be sourced.

The Vauxhall letters took a bit longer to get off than I thought. Use a strong shatterproof plastic ruler to lever them off - they are stuck on well. I then had to use a bit of rubbing compound to remove the letter imprints in the paint lacquer.

The job is done "Vauxhall" has been removed. It was quite easy to do , each letter comes off seperately. Once warm they came off with little fuss, i used some sticky stuff remover to get rid of the glue. I will put a CV8 badge in place.

Just an observation.

If and when these rebadged cars are offered for trade in/resale it may affect the considered value. It doesnt take much to make a buyer suspicious and to have unknown badges in some places on car and vauxhall on others may spook them or make them thing its an import and they are being duped, a dealer would also want to revert the car back to Vauxhall and alter the price accordingly.

Just a thought.

Yep!

But any dealer, new or used, Vauxhall or Ford would say the same. Just pointing out it could cost you again to maximise sale value.

Thanks for that: kept all the badges so its easy to put back, should I ever wish to. There is probably more an issue fitting ripshifters, different brakes exhausts etc....... 05 bonnets on 04 cars etc etc etc.

you pay your money and takes your choice

when I was selling my 04 badged as a Holden - all my potential buyers said it was a selling point and loads of questions came in through ebay as to where the badges could be sourced, so can be a good thing too for those in the know !

Wouldn't agree there...these are all mechanical enhancements where as a badge change is not. Whether you get back what you paid for them is a different story, but is they enhance your ownership then as u say, pay your money take your choice.

Just offering friendly advice to owners from another side of the fence.
