Lost power but got back home...
Fitted new belt but now every time I apply some throttle the main drive belt screeches...
Seems like cogged belt started rubbing on back of pulley housing causing initial failure.
Not sure why yet - ran out of time, but it's 8-rib...
Wonder if bearing in the pulley is on way out?
thanks - yes, not too bad...
one of the bearings broke up in the pulley assembly that drives the cogged belt, allowing the shaft to creep forward, so the belt rubbed against the bearing yoke, melting and then shredding it! But it's already disassembled - just waiting for the bearings and my very good friend/mechanic to refit them.
One day we'll get round to fitting the 2.9l whipple on it!
