Well that's good news really, a car like that must have gone for a good price which might have a knock on effect for the rest of us.
In all honesty I hope it's gone to a good home and the owner looks after it.

It sold a few weeks ago there was a thread with a video of the person driving it away on Facebook, I have always maintained these cars are worth good money, I never doubted the value of that 500.

Well, that once again proves every car is worth exactly what the right person is willing to pay for it. Congrats to the new owner of this beauty smile

Am sure we I'll never find out, there is a certain person on here I would pay a premium for its a 500 and red, this came up on FB gutted sold.
As stated it's all about what a person wants to pay.

I still don't see why people think the vxr500 is special

I do see your point, the fact is even I could convert my car into to a VXR 500, technically there really isn't anything special about them.
However when you just look at the dross driving around the roads, or even worse the White goods for sale in most car show rooms, a Monaro with a blower on is a very special car.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm hearing all sorts of quality issues with new GM V8's, I think it's mainly the DOD systems that are failing and destroying lifters and cams, Chrysler Hemi's seem to have the same issue.
I think Monaro and VXR8 owners with simple LS1,LS2, and LS3's are very fortunate not to have these systems fitted......which make these cars ...dare I say it....special.
Another 2p worth.

Why would anyone want to convert to vxr500 spec when you can make a far better car for what a vxr500 would cost you to purchase. Well in that case my 2p worth is that my old ls1 cv8 monaro was way superior / special than any old vxr500 lol

Yes, you're both right.
Its good for all of us though, because it will pull up values of 'lesser' Monaro too.

I'd imagine it was pretty close to the asking price and they know what the cars are worth otherwise they'd have no enquiries at the advertised price.

The second car at £22k wasn't so unreasonable. The £40k for the first listing is a bit OTT

Sometimes car dealers are dreamers too.

I laughed a year or two ago when a friend bought a M2 BMW. He'd actually been watching it for some time, and it had been listed at £52k. Apparently a fairly limited edition, M2 manual trans only a few hundred made around 2011 or something.
Friend offered him £45k and the guy refused.. Roll on about 14-15 months, the same car was still for sale at the same place, this time listed at £42k. Friend ended up buying it for £37k
And when he was picking it up, he certainly reminded the dealer what he offered some months ago.

I still think our cars sell cheap for what you get for your money, especially supercharged cars, they sell for bonkers money in Australia.

It has to be a badge issue, wish they been imported as a Holden may be worth more?

I agree, we’re probably the worst country for badge snobbery, and having owned some of the usual culprits in the past, and suffered from their ‘quality’, I won’t get fooled again music

I said 15 years ago (to myself) they should have just been sold as Holdens / HSVs from selected Vauxhall dealers.

Other imported GM V8s didn’t have to suffer a name change when they were sold here, so why did ours?

Can you imagine a Vauxhall Corvette? Or Camaro? hehe No thanks....

Vauxhall needed the Monaro to help start the VXR brand so I guess it was a very deliberate move to rebadge them.
Lets just be grateful they had the bks to import them. Bold move in the UK.

Oh, I’m grateful they brought them here, I’m on my second biggrin

Just think it could have been done differently? scratchchin
