Hi

The nearside front shock absorber top mount seems to be breaking up! viewed from underneath you can see the bump stop but the metal that holds the

gaiter in place has corroded badly, causing? a klonk when stearing at parking speeds.. anyway I think it needs a new one.

Does anyone know as to there availability?

Cheers Yoss.

Yea. I had this problem, a few years ago. I got new ones from Australia. They were not much money.

This seller says they dont post to UK, but I managed to get some online somewhere.

You may also want to get the bearings and top mount bushes as well.

Peddlers UK had those parts in stock. Don't forget to do both sides at the same time.
I would also spray some anti corrosion wax on the spring seats as well as inside the shock tower, that will last a good few years.

pedders uprated ones but don’t forget to get the new bearings x 2 as they will collapse when you remove the mounts , when putting it back together lots of grease on the top mounts helps , it’s quite an easy job , be aware of wheel camber not getting changed so worth scratching where the hub meets the shock so you know the angle it was before , the adjuster bolts for the camber tend to get stuck

Thanks for the offer of help, but l have family nearby who are able to help. l had a quick look today and its the 'Top spring retainers' that are

affected by rust, searching back on this forum there is a possibility that they are maybe the same parts as fitted to Carlton or Omega models.

is anybody able to confirm this? Top mounts and bearings are available from 'Rockauto' but not the top spring plates!

Cheers Yoss.

Well I spoke to Roger Keys on Pedders who says the Top mount plates are unique to Monaros and are now unobtainable.

one of mine is completely corroded. Has anyone overcome this problem in the past?

Cheers Yoss.

Yes, both of mine were completely shot when I decided to replace the suspension with pedders low 2 years ago. Fortunately the plates were available back then.

Try Walkinshaw / MW Performance/ NWJ Autocare / LS Performance

Done a bit of digging and these guys might be your best bet to get a pair if none of the others have stock, not sure what the shipping will be like though. https://gtog8ta.com/04-06-gto/04-06-gto-front-uppe...

I bought some gas struts for the bonnet and boot off them at the start of the year, was visiting the States for work so got them delivered to the office there before I arrived. Thought they were pretty good.

Another suggestion, I'm thinking the pre-assembled coil over kits from Pedders will do away with these plates?

He did you know thumbup

Given they're the same for so many eras of Holden, I think we'll at least be safely able to get them, there'll always be a market for them of some sort in Australia at least.

Ebaying the part number gives another result on US ebay, 92039205
