Hey all,

Anyone know what the differences are build takes on a VXR LS1 and LS2? I understand the build numbers for the LS2 restarted from 0.

My LS2 has:
Model: Vauxhall Monaro VXR
build No: 0238
Tag no: L44251 - I’m assuming this is different on the LS1?
Build date:
Colour
Accent

Number under the windscreen, should give away the engine, LS1or LS2.

Tag number should match the last few numbers on the VIN under the windscreen. Not sure when the last 6 numbers accumulate from, if it the beginning of that years production or that particular model or some other way.

Nice one Rich!

There would be a few more as I believe HSV converted about 30 cars a day.

Unless HSV remove them there should be a body plate on the slam panel above the LH headlight:

Yes it’s there, HSV don’t remove the id, they just add a hsv one as above.

If that is your plate I’d suggest removing the image or cover up part of the vin

Can only think it was change from 5.7 LS1 to 6.0 LS2. I believe they started build number at 1 again from what I've found on't interweb.

Yep they did but not sure the id’ plate style changed. I’ll check out some Aussie cars and see if they were different

Found this on carsales site, the big boot Aus GTO also has the older tag. But you’ll note that the model has GTO Coupe, and from Rich’s pic the Aus 6l has VZ GTO

It’s interesting with the VSR the 5.7l and 6.0l are not considered different models.

I suspect the ID label changed because there was a change in model between the 5.7 litre cars and the 6 litre cars.

As far as I can work out, the 5.7s were based on the V2 Monaro whereas the 6.0s are the VZ, so from Holden / HSVs point of view they are distinct.

The VIN is Holden's number whereas the build number is HSV's.

Yeah agree but HSV Aus cars are defined as different models on the HSV plate, the UK export cars are all called Vauxhall Monaro VXR.

I find it interesting that HSV didn’t differentiate the export model
