Hi all,

Think me slave cylinder is starting to act the b@st@rd. Few times of late when revving it hard the next gear change or so the pedal doesn’t seem to have came fully up and then it’s hard to get the next gear. Few seconds pass and it’s ok again.

I tried the remote bleed route but hasn’t helped, and the fluid is black again despite a full flush less than 200 miles ago. Seems to be getting worse. No clutch slip or anything, just pedal doesn’t seem to fully return. I discover this on next press of clutch pedal as travel isn’t as far To the floor and then gear hard to get.

Anyways, given the luk 04905 ls7 kit has been out of stock in rock auto since forever And doesn’t appear to be restocked anytime soon, has anyone tried the Mantic clutch. I was thinking of going stage 4 which is a sprung paddle clutch set up. I’m not worried about harshness as I won’t be doing much city driving, just interested in peoples opinions if you have actually used one! Also I’m on a budget so no point suggesting crazy expensive alternative brands of clutches. Plus the Mantic clutches have everything included, flywheel, spigot bearing and slave cylinder etc etc so saves sourcing bits from different locations.

Cheers all in advance.

I used to use McLeod RST twin plate on a rover v8 TT. It was organic and worked really well, was nice and light on the pedal. When it came to chevy time I looked at the McLeod and the Mantic 9000. I'm sure the McLeod works well but the Mantic is a quality engineered part. You can press the pedal down with your hand. It comes in an aluminium suitcase and custom's will definately look inside :-) Order the slave and bleed kit as well.

Oh st, has it?

Damn, I was planning on picking one up to stick in whilst my engine was out.

Summit says they'll order them in? Not as nice with shipping though...

I believe LS Performance Parts supply stuff over here, they're at least UK based and active in the facebook groups, decent guys too thumbup

I found the clutch kit was out of stock on RockAuto so i set up an email alert for when they're back in stock, plus daily checks of the website.
It seems to be that they're constantly coming back in stock, but only in small quantities. The first time I got an email, i dawdled for a few days and they were back out of stock. A few days later they were back in stock again, and I managed to get the last one.
BTW, this was the LUK 04216 kit to use in a VXR8.

Summit are also showing as out of stock. I also set up alert ages ago on rock auto for the clutch and after maybe a month or so they emailed to say it was still out of stock and did I want to continue to be notified of availability. I did but have heard noting since so seems it hasn’t came back in stock.

Think I will end up going with the Mantic at this point. As I say the clutch isn’t slipping or anything but given the car doesn’t even have towing eyes I don’t want to be left on the side of the road.

I’m having a Mantic Stage 2 clutch fitted to my car at the moment to replace the LS7 it currently has. I sourced it through LS Performance. I’ll report here on how it feels.

Will be really interested to hear how it feels / sounds / performs etc. as looking at the above lack of stock it seems I'll feasibly be doing the same thing whilst the engine is out!

What sort of power are you at / expecting to be at? Is the ugprade due to the LS7 failing to cope or just wear...?

Car should be back on the road in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Great, feedback will be good to get although I think I’m going to have to make a purchase very very soon.

Hopefully this will be the last item as I have spent a small fortune on the car since I bought it last December. At least everything I’m putting on is upgrading so the car is getting better and better.

I've had an LS7 clutch in my Monaro since the original slave cylinder failed with similar symptoms to the OP. That was about 25K miles ago.

It's a great clutch in an unmodified car. Expensive but great.

Oh no! Definitely not. Very happy with the LS7 clutch kit the boys at AAS fitted back in April.smile
Then I had them do my fuel lines in stainless in August, that's this years significant spending done!
Might have a quick rack fitted next year along with a service.

Think after the clutch a quick rack will be the next big investment. Again they seem to be out of stock any time I look. Is pedders getting them back in?

Car is currently in bits and the LS7 is half worn so thought I’d take the opportunity to swap it out. After talking to the guys at LS Performance, they were singing the Matic’s praises so I went for it. LS7 had occasions when pulling away when I felt like it wasn’t engaging properly so thought it’s cheaper to do the clutch now.

Before going out of stock everywhere recently, the full LS7 clutch kit including flywheel was £180 on Rock Auto, unbelievable value (albeit ended up at £360 once shipped and duty paid).

I'm going to assume the Mantic with equivalent torque rating is going to be £1,000 or something scratchchin
