CUBE - Short shifter on a VXR8
Discussion
The cube shifter seems to be OK TBH, but make sure you don't need any of their extras before ordering. I think there is the options of heavy duty springs and a bronze bush depending on your application.
The Walkinshaw will always cost more because of the name, but it will probably be better overall quality.
I bought the old favourite the GM Ripshifter years ago and it's been fine.
If you fancy an American Hurst shifter they are also worth a punt.
You pays your money etc.

Got the cube shifter in my Monaro. Seems of a high quality, nicely machined parts, tight tolerances, good shift feel etc. The one thing to look out for (if it is the same design on the VXR8) is the gearstick handle. On the Monaro it's in 2 pieces, the vertical "stub" which connects into the gearbox and the handle "extension" which provides most of the stick length. The bolts which join these together seem to vibrate themselves loose constantly even with a liberal application of Blue Locktite. I'm tempted to use a longer bolt and stick a nyloc nut to create a duel nut effect between the nut and threaded stick extension. If the extension comes loose you lose the ability to change gear, so make sure it's tight and will remain tight!
