I may enquire about a red 5.7 VXR on Autotrader but it's MOT History has a lot of worrying remarks about brake lines and discs.
If replacing with standard items what would a decent independent garage charge to replace all brake lines and discs?

Disc replacement is a job you can do yourself it's not hard . Changing brake lies has been done by others on this forum, I don't think it would cost a massive amount to fi but the cost of the lines could be a bit pricey!

Many places should be able to make up brake lines. It’s not particularly difficult. Most decent independent garages should be able to make them

Brake discs are super easy to do whether it's yourself or a garage that does them.

Rusty brake lines seem to be quite common on the Monaros, I'm wanting mine replaced soon. As others have said a decent independent will do them no problem. I am not sure but I would imagine it's at least a couple hundred quid to get them all done.

as above , brakes are easy , brake lines are not it’s likely to be 1200£ plus , topcats did mine , it’s a big job to do , the big boot cars the lines go over the tank but instead of tank removal can be joined in front of the tank , mine could have lasted longer but not worth taking a risk , parts of the pipe was worse than other bits

£1200+ ??!!
I had my lines replaced in copper at a regular garage as a pre-purchase agreement. It was well under £400.
They didn't remove the rear end, they just put a one join in each rear run.
The old lines were put in the boot for inspection, they weren't that bad, but the pre-purchase MOT failed on them.

I don't know the car, but looking at the MOT history, it looks pretty typical for a Monaro. It wouldn't worry me.

£1200 for brake lines.. id want 24k gold for that .. the materials needed to replace lines would be £100 and thats going over board
ive dropped the tank on mine. took 1hr and that was on the drive . to replace brake lines and bleed up is half a days job.
if you paid 1200 you were robbed blind imo

the lines were supplied by them , and i know a lot of labour was involved as it took a few days to do it , i did a kit car myself a while ago but i was not climbing under the monaro to do the same , i trust Topcats and was happy to leave it to them , there were a load of old brake lines that came off the car , i looked underneath it was a very clean tidy job , so i don’t mind paying out for my pride and joy

I Suppose they must have used all genuine lines for that price.

Please DO NOT use ordinary steel brake pipes waste of money, pay a little extra and get copper or copper nickel, then spray over with underseal, especially where pipes are boxed along floor pan.

copper nickel for mine plus fuel line was done too , it’s the labour and time involved plus there are lots of pipes , i know a good job was done plus some under sealing , not putting down other garages when i spoke to walkinsaw they said they have seen some very poor jobs of getting them replaced , the cost of walkinshaw doing it was going to be in their own admission much more than i paid to get it done , i also did braided flexible lines too , to be honest with ap’ s on it the flexible lines are worth dining as the standard lines do age , but flexible lines were not that noticeable as the brakes work so well in the first place
