Hi

Firstly sorry no pic, I struggle with anything more than basic IT

While looking for the ambient air temp sensor I came across 2 pink connectors, make and female that clearly go together but for some reason they are unplugged and heavily taped up. They run across the top of the radiator at the back of the slam panel. Each plug has 3 wires, a black, a purple and a pink with a black trace line along it.

I’m not wanting to plug them together as back in the day with my first car, mk2 escort, did the very same and the loom under the dash started to glow like one of those electric bar heaters in your grand bathroom.

Any ideas please

I don't have an R8, but on my Monaro I'm fairly sure the power to the radiator fan has a connector like that scratchchin

Yes I did wonder, been really hot today and while in traffic I saw my temp gauge climb a bit above normal but didn’t hear fans kick in, mind you on other cars they don’t tend to until temps gone up considerably

Hard to say without seeing it BUT..

My alarm suddenly started going off at random intervals and it turned out to be the switch for the bonnet catch that was faulty - its quite a common problem I think. The quick and dirty solution was to simply disconnect it and I recall a setup very similar to the one that you describe.

Worth following the wires see where they go.
And post a.pic..see if anyone recognises it..
I'll happily look under my bonnet to match it

I emailed Stuart at AAS Newcastle with photo and description of the wires etc. He said it was part of the anti theft system, should anyone get the bonnet open trying to steal it.......
It’s left unlocked with keys in ignition.... still got it
