Just out of interest you understand....I wonder how much it would cost to fit a blower to a Monaro these days?
I really should throw that Mad Max 1 DVD away !!!!
Probably about the same as it always was - about £7k. Maybe less if you can find a second hand one.I really should throw that Mad Max 1 DVD away !!!!
Funnily enough I was toying with the idea of upgrading mine to a Kong Performance TVS2650. Would be a massive waste of money though so I need to have a word with myself.

Paul I know what you mean, I am thinking of changing my entire set-up to a Cog driven V7. No idea why, the car has now done 500 miles in 10 years Funnily enough I was toying with the idea of upgrading mine to a Kong Performance TVS2650. Quite a lot. The kits are the big spend, unless you are rebuilding the engine too. Then it can all add up to a lot of pennies, far more than I'd be able to justify.I really should throw that Mad Max 1 DVD away !!!!
Also some variance in price depending on what type of setup you want to go for. Roots, Twin screw, centrifugal or even a turbo setup.
Personally always quite fancied and liked the centrifugal setups, but these tend to suit more rev happy motors and shorter gearing. PD blowers will offer the low down instant torque for roasting tyres

It would have to be a PD blower for me, just a bolt on and 550 hp will do. Mind you a red switch on the gear lever to activate the blower would be ace.. OK I need therapy. Also some variance in price depending on what type of setup you want to go for. Roots, Twin screw, centrifugal or even a turbo setup.

lol, the red switch would be hugely costly to sort out a reliable clutch system for the belt I'd think Not sure if these would work on a RHD Monaro as they are designed for the LHD GTO, but I'd have thought they should be workable unless the steering gets in the way.

Potentially more PEAK power and better throttle from a centrifugal blower. But no low rpm fat torque curve.
Yeah, I reckon £7-8k all in should get you a PD blower.
I've read the full installation guide to the TVS2300 kit and it really is DIYable barring the tuning.
Its a lot to spend on a Monaro now the prices are £10k ish, but still it would be a proper 550bhp car with mega torque.
There's nothing sensible about owning a Monaro anyway, so if you can fund it why not?!

For an LS3, VXR8 (pontiac G8), you want one of these:I've read the full installation guide to the TVS2300 kit and it really is DIYable barring the tuning.

I've had a chat with Neil. The actual cost of a supercharger and fitting isn't a problem, the problem is the power levels I was thinking of are not going to be very good for my auto box.I was going to be looking at 600-650 at the crank which Neil thinks is liable to blow the torque converter, I recall that Kaw had this problem some years ago.
Neil was straight with me and reckoned it would be very expensive to fit a charger take the gearbox out and change the torque converter. He also thought that I might have to change the cam. I have got a Monkfish magic cam don't ask what the numbers on it are I haven't got a clue on that part.
I had it on a dyno a couple of years ago with Roger having a computer plugged in and he reckoned it was making about 510 h.p. at the crank.
Neil is of the opinion that the torque converter is safe up to about 600 h.p. I'm not going to spend £7000 up on 90 h.p.

I don't blame you. It's a very slippery slope as what you gain in one place, you lose somewhere else. My Monaro drives like it was designed for its current power level, but only because everything else has also been upgraded, just picks up and fks off very quickly with little effort. Very funny when somebody tries it on, especially when they were stuck to your rear bumper only a few moments before. Have a chat with Roger (monkfish1), I'm sure he did a few TVS powered autos at the 600hp mark but it needs reprogramming to alter the shifts IIRC.
