Hi all,
Just a very quick question, I’m just ordering parts for a service and I’m too lazy to jack up the car and investigate. Is the fuel filter located in the tank or outside the tank?

I know it’s not usual to replace the fuel filter on a regular service but I like to especially as it’s the first service since I have owned the car so don’t know if it’s ever been done before. However if it’s in the tank I’ll probably leave it.

Cheers in advance for advice.

The filter is in the tank on all LS2's and the 05 facelift CV8

I don't think the fuel filter is a service item. I've never changed mine in 13 years yikes

My service book says to replace fuel filter every 130,000 miles. Not sure if the book is the same for the small boot 5.7/6.0 though?
Easy on the early big boot version as the filter is just under the car, I changed mine when I bought it just for good measure.

as above i don’t think it’s a service item , do able on a older cv8 as it’s outside the tank , i would not fancy dropping a tank to do it it’s it’s not necessary

I don't care what car it is....I'd never leave a fuel filter for 130k....or even half that.

Agreed, I wouldn’t like leaving it to 130k. Mine is only on 73k and I’d still like to change it. However if it’s in the tank I think I’ll be giving it a miss

I have the big boot 5.7 VXR and it is on the outside of the tank, remove off side rear wheel and easy access from there smile
