Hi Guys, i have a problem with my air con, it won't switch on.
I have tried all the settings that are in the handbook, but with no luck, ive had a look at the fuse and that's ok, but still reads a/c off.
any ideas, regards

Has it been slowly getting worse, or doesn't seem as icy as it used to be ? If so, your pressure has finally dropped to the point that it won't switch on. You'll need a pressure test.
Dead giveaway is with the motor running, turn air con off, then on, as do do so you should hear the compressor clutch engaging ( a little clunk ). It's also visible if you lift the bonnet. Spinning or not spinning.

The good news is that it it's been years since it was re-gassed and was still coldish when it last worked, you'll probably just need a re-gas. If it suddenly stopped then something has broken or leaked.

Hmmm, funny one that.
Firstly, how long have you had the car and have you known the a/c to ever work in it?
I'm just thinking back, when my air con wasn't working due to being flat/hole in pipework, I'm sure the display still said 'a/c' as apposed to 'a/c off' even though it wasn't working and the low pressure switch will have obviously triggered. So I don't think the system is that smart.
It sounds like you can't get yours to say anything other than 'a/c off'. Is this right? Which leads me to wonder if it more of a control panel or ECU issue.
In fact, I've just checked. I've sat in my car with just the ignition on. Pressing the a/c button, my display toggles between 'a/c' and 'a/c off'.
To that end I wonder if disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes might reset some electronic module somehow. Got to be worth a try?
If not might need one of these, but please do some more homework before committing! smile

I purchased the car in september last year, only had the car on the road for a month before it's lay up, did notice then the a/c wouldn't turn on.
As the car has no centre silencer, i always drive with the window open, but it would be great to get the a/c to work.
Thanks for your replys

Keep us all posted on the solution if you find it.
It might be useful for future Monaro owners.thumbup

Simple thing to try - reach down to where the plug is situated on the aircon pump and push it in gently (also wires into plug). You may find this alleviates the issue temporarily but after some time, it may cease turning on after the engine is up to temp / after time and you'll need to do it again.
