You can get Royal Purple on Amazon.
Why That particular brand though? On the oil filler cap G.M. recommend Mobil 1, others on this forum reckon that any good synthetic oil is fine.

If you do want Royal Purple oil contact AAS, they are located in Newcastle Upon Tyne. AAS are an official UK importer of that oil including the filters.
I've used that brand for years and wouldnt change it for anything else.

As above, AAS - Newcastle.
Its good stuff, but doubt its any better than any other premium oil. Certainly costly stuff.

Grade is more important than brand.

Don't pay more than you have to..

The LS engine is quite basic in design and doesn't need anything special

Thanks for all the replys, the car has a few bits done, Maggie 1900 charger and associated engine upgrades, injectors, cam, headers etc. The car has always had RP oils from back when it was built. Harrop LSD is clunky only when turning tight at vert low speeds ie parking.

I don't have any knowledge of the Harrop LSD, but if you intend to replace it I can recommend the Wavetrac LSD together with Castrol Syntrax oil as a suitable replacement.
As your engine has been run on Royal Purple without issue I would just stick with it.

I'll second the use of Castrol Syntrax in the diff, my stock diff clunked and knocked like a good un after a good run even with the use of Royal Purple diff oil.
I've since changed to the Castrol, put a splash of Redline FM in with it and now the diff is good as gold.

No need for RP just use a good quality fully synthetic 5/30-5/40 oil

I have used Miller's in everything for the last 10 years, had loads of cluncking in diff before that, their diff oil is excellent no additive required, fill and forget.

Only think Royal purple is worth it if your supercharged as it has great cooling properties, think that's why the fish used.

Having said that I use Miller's race oils in mine am supercharged.

Opie oils are excellent and offer good advice, personally if I wasn't charged I would just go for a basic oil with the correct viscosity.

Yes absolutely each to their own Mobil 1 is an excellent oil.

I think the Holden factory oil fill was Mobil 1 ?
In any case I doubt you could fault Mobil 1 really.
Yes I'm a RP fan boy and it is expensive but I've never had any issues with it over the years and my engine runs very sweet indeed.....smile
