So I've taken the plunge and bought an Australian v8 powered beast .. just at the beginning of the apocalypse. Should be good for chasing biker gangs across the wastelands? On aserious note, views on ownership, tips on specialists for service or parts now monkfish gone.
What are your thoughts on reliability, build etc? Fuel costs low since purchase, dead battery and lockdown good for mileage right?

Where do you live?
Reliability is pretty good fuel consumption depends on how heavy footed you are!

Congratulations and welcome to the fold! Got any pictures of your car that you want to share with us?
The guy I bought my Monaro from also had a VXR8 Bathurst Edition as a more practical daily driver smile
He took both his cars to Walkinshaw Performance, you might want to check them out.

Live near Loughborough. Bought the car from mwperformance in Chester. Nice guys, immaculate cars for sale and workshop. They’ll probably be my go to despite distance. Car sits lower than standard on pedders springs and after market steel exhaust system. Otherwise stock. Manual box. I love this car, big lazy T. rex muscle car, could have an a45 or rs3 etc, but I have motorbikes to go quick everywhere. This car is so left of centre I just grin when I’m in it.!

So, advice needed.found problem with gearbox.
Car is manual, under load of acceleration in sixth as car gets into 3500 to 4000 revs, slips out of gear, every time, any Davis
Ce.
Car has six month warranty.
Anyone else had similar issues.

get back onto who you bought it from , what miles is it on , is clutch slipping or any thing else issues wise , and does the shifter seem fine no extra play in it ?

IMO it is unlikely to be a clutch fault.
I heard it can be as simple as low oil level in the box, so could be worth a change. Unfortunately I doubt it.
How many miles are on the car now?

No play in shifter at all. Other gears ok at all speeds. Only sixth as power really kicks in after 4000 plus revs. Wierd thing is clutch goes hard to push down immediately after, then ok. Research on line suggests clutch dust in clutch fluid, ie. Murky in reservoir, it’s pretty black so first measure is swop our fluid for fresh.going to ring mw performance tomorrow as car has 6 month warranty, seem like good guys, hope so! As regards speed at which this happens.... no comment in a public forum:-)

With that sort of low mileage, we'd like to think the box isn't goosed!
Fingers crossed for a nice simple fix!

clutch fluid can be bled from under the car , change of gearbox fluid or top up may help , they keep a lot of spares in so i’m sure they will sort it out

If it only jumps out of gear in sixth it could be the 5th/6th sleeve/shaft worn - the gear lever jumps to neutral - but 5th is ok??

I'd imagine the car jumping out of gear at ~160mph is a bit of an eye opener yikeshehe
