As above , any one know a good source of up rated braided brake lines for an 04 monaro cv8 please , it’s time to get the fuel and brake lines done as a bit of preventative maintenance , preferably off the shelf rather than try and take them off mine as they are very stuck together

If you're after replacing the rubber flexible hoses, I bought the Russell braided ones.
There are two front and four rear hoses in the pack.
The flexible fuel hose is also made by Russell. This fits on the passenger side from the fuel rail to the metal hard line next to the bulk head.
You will have to buy or make a plastic tool to disconnect the factory hose. Bleed the fuel rail off first to stop petrol being sprayed all over the place.
These are / were available from AAS in Newcastle.
The metal hard lines will have to be made up as they are not available as a ready made kit for our cars.
Some on here have said the rear subframe has to come off to do the job, but others have managed without the hassle.
Don't forget to use a proper brake spanner, it will save you a world of pain when removing the nuts on the metal lines.

You could also try Walkinshaw performance or Hel performance who specialise in brake lines.

Do we know if the 5.7 CV8 uses the same pipes as the 6.0?

A while back, the Hel branded flexi lines look good but the front pair didn't come with the bracket that anchors the pipe to the car body behind the MacPherson strut.

I removed the clips from the old hoses and had them powder coated then fitted the new hoses held in with clips. These are the clips I used part number GM 90498320 readily available from dealers or online

is it worth asking pedders/the fish is they keep them any more , i don’t mind standard hoses but much prefer braided if they can be found , based on what aas says they are getting more difficult to find

As already said, there are different kits for earlier and later Monaros / GTOs. I've got an LS2 Monaro but I had to get the earlier kit when fitting some Nissan GT-R calipers, as the front lines are longer. The Russell part number is 692310.

Hel performance and goodridge no good they have some in for an 05 vxr but as far as i am aware the 04 cv8 pipes are unique to that particular car

04 CV8 should be the same as a VT-VYII commodore (late 1997 to mid 2004) Even most of the VZ Commodores would have the same.
Only the VZ SS-Z Commodore had the same brakes as the VZ Monaro sent to the UK.

This one is specifically mentioned for the earlier Monaro, but I'm not sure what the difference is, between this and the above.

Are these differences in kits due to the differences in calipers across the 04-05 range? I only ask because there was no problem getting hoses for my 5.7VXR fitted with AP calipers.

Correction: Both '04 and '05 models, regardless of CV8 or VXR, need 6 flexis. The 2 extra hoses are for nearside and offside rear suspension swing arms to the subframe.

so would a 2005 vxr set of brake pipes be ok for a 2004 cv8 as hel uk can get them made up , all the rigid brake lines are being changed any way , plus the uk option is quite a lot cheaper and quicker than the au route , i don’t know enough about the brake lines to work it out
