So during a day out I was walking back to my 04 CV8 when having unlocked the car I put my car keys in my coat pocket, had a quick chat with someone and then having put my neatly folded coat in the boot whilst still chatting I closed the lid.... and froze. After a quick check of my trouser pockets in the vain hope that I hadn’t been a silly boy it soon dawned on me that my car keys were indeed shut in the boot rolleyes .

For a brief moment all sorts of thoughts ran through my mind, including visions of Mr RAC making a copious hole using a hammer and chisel in my prized bootlid to try and extricate said car and house keys furious.
Then I remembered this forum. Someone had mentioned before about a boot lid release somewhere behind one of the rear headrests. But was it for a CV8?
So having leaned into the back I lifted up the drivers side rear headrest and there it was, a little yellow handle of delight. Carefully I pulled it, half expecting the cable to be frozen solid and utterly useless, and got my partner to lift the bootlid at the same time.... and it worked bounce . Thanks guys.

So, for the benefit of those who might just do the same as me whilst otherwise enjoying a nice day out, here’s a photo of said little handle. Stay safe folks!

I keep mine locked else it won’t stay shut. Lucky the car remained unlocked.

The doors must of been unlocked otherwise he wouldn't of been able to get to the rear headrest.
And as said could have just pressed the button in the glove box.

Just to clarify - car unlocked, glovebox locked. Hence why I remembered the pull handle!

Cheers. The reason behind my initial post was that without this forum I wouldn’t of known About the release handle - or the button for that matter, as I don’t think the dealer I bought the car from knew about them as they weren’t mentioned to me. But now I’m a little bit wiser than before cloud9
