Hey all,

I've had a Monaro VXR sitting for a few months and the airbag light is now on but VZClusterMod (airbag) shows no fault codes and all circuits are within both resistance and capacitence tolerances. Does this mean the airbag module is at fault?

I did also have a leaky door membrain that lead to the carpets getting wet, although I'm not sure this would have caused an issue to the module as I believe it's in the center console.

VZClusterMod output for more info:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Chris

If it's been unused for some time I would suspect a battery fault.

My money would be on one of the seat airbags, as the connectors could be wet from your water ingress.

Airbag faults are latching, and are notoriously difficult to clear sometimes. I took mine to Monkfish after I made the mistake of starting the car when I had the passenger seat out to dry out the carpet. It even took them half a dozen attempts to clear it.

I'm not sure if that version of VZClustermod reports on the seat airbags, or if they even have them come to think of it ?

As above, the yanks don't have seat airbags, so that's your likely culprit if the rest is looking good, as the guy was American who wrote clustermod

Good luck, my brother in law had a similar issue on a vy, took it to Holden in Oz repeatedly over a year and could not clear it... he had just put up with it.

For something to try, get another scanner on it to check the fault

Cheers for the replies, I feel like a bit of an idiot as I forgot it has side airbag! I'll make these the next thing to look at.

The resistance / capacitance requirements are the same for the side airbags as all the others (although driver's has a higher minimum resistance oddly)

Anyway, just get a 470nF capacitor and 5 Ohm resistor (or whatever it close, I forget the values they come in), bang them in series and shove them in the yellow plug under the seat.

The cluster mod program can still reset the light, if it comes back on then it's feasibly not the side airbag itself (assuming resistor/cap is right) but it'll help you narrow it down at least hopefully.
