Hi all

One of the jobs on my list to spruce up my CV8 is to replace the sun-faded plastic exterior B pillar trim. I've found the part numbers for the left and right side.

Searching on here suggests that they can be prised off at the top with a screw driver and then slid upwards to remove.

Can someone please confirm this is the correct method? I don't want to damage the mounting points, especially as on a 15 year old car the plastic is likely to be brittle.

Cheers.

Can't advise on removal but interested all the same. Mine are faded too but I revived them fairly successfully with a lot of polishing. They're starting to go again though - no idea how because Scottish winter, so not sun fade...

I found a source a while back but cost was high. Do you mind sharing where you're getting them?

The part numbers are:

92093111
92093112

I found one side from a Vauxhall parts website in the UK. The other I think I'll have to source from outside the UK. It's not cheap considering they are bits of plastic but mine are really faded.

I've got a random supply of black vinyl leftover from years ago, so might give wrapping mine a try too smile

To those who have painted or wrapped their B pillars: did you do that in situ or did you remove the trim first? Is the plastic cover easy to remove and replace?

I'm trying to keep the car looking original so I don't think I'll wrap them. Some kind of plastic restorer may be an option.

The trim is dead easy to remove but remember its probably been there a while so maybe don't try on the coldest of days!
It is held in place by a popper at the top so grab it with fingers and pull outwards to free it.
Then slide upwards until it comes out of its 'rails'. Will become obvious when removed and turned over, putting it back is slightly more tricky but not hard.
NOTE anyone ordering a new one, they do not come with the SRS sticker. These are available separately.
I got the drivers side from a UK parts supplier as mine was broken, the other side doesn't look too faded at all. Guess it depends on how much garage life they've had.
Many of these little bits of trim, felt seals etc. are obsolete sadly. I've spent hours bouncing across the net. The bits that are still available are pricey and then the shipping makes it almost bonkers to consider.

Mine became loose some time back, a little numberplate tape and it was solid again. When the unending rain has ceased I'll be removing mine and trying 'Forever Black'. I'll post results here. Don't hold your breath however, it's still raining.
