I need to replace a couple of buibs in the interior of my Monaro. I was going to replace the map lights ( there are a few blackened buibs ) as well as the door and boot lights with Led's.
Can you use Led's that are not canbus compliant for these applications as they seem reasonably priced.

Thanks in advance
John

The front fog lights , just the correct shape for the front bumper holes , the interior there should be lots of options , even coloured lighting ? , blue interior bulbs ? , i found stuff on ebay when i last looked a little while ago

I used LED bulbs from halfords to do the interior and they have been good for 2 years or so. Some of the rubbish in eBay is very poor quality so at least with halfords you can take them back.

i don’t disagree , the benefit with ebay is sometimes is the best source to find stuff that’s a bit obscure or difficult to find in normal shops , a blue interior does sound nice

Ade,

Perhaps not the same ones Chris is talking about, but I have these in mine:

3"/76mm version fits the oval foglight aperture well enough:

And with the DRL rings surrounding the foglights wired up:

Hi Ade , i don’t think the same ones i bought are on ebay any more , there are quite a few options on ebay similar style to mine , option two is a visit to halfords , the halfords on line site is not great a store visit is often worth while , probably around 30£ for a pair of lights , mine have a slightly lager plastic dome to them , mot tester was fine with them , they bolted to original brackets in the lights , being plastic a lot more durable too

Front fog lamps aren't part of the MoT test (OK, OK, they are; but only for cars made after 1/3/18 so not until March 2021). But DRLs on modern cars are, so if you fit them to work as DRLs, an over-zealous tester may fail it if one of them isn't on perhaps? I don't like to give testers the opportunity!

Having said that, I will be replacing mine this Spring because one is broken and standard ones are a fortune. frown

I'd been considering these but at 90mm may a little bit too large. Got to get the front bumper off once it gets a bit warmer; and LEDs are an option:

Thanks Ally, checked number on ebay and still selling just over £10, thats one big bargain when you see what they charge for original ones. And original ones the glass is too stressed hence they keep breaking.

Thanks a lot, could do with putting in Q&A section.

Adebyebye PS Nice suttle front splitterthumbup

my mot tester has the opinion if they are there they should work , he was not bothered if they were drl fog or driving lights , somewhere between 10 to 30 , sometimes the ebay quality is not great some times is very good and a bit of a bargain worth paying a bit more on ebay for a better light, plus checking halfords out as above , i was not happy to pay the cost of a new or used original one with risk of it breaking again v 30£ for a pair

Will do! Thanks smile

Cost was a big reason why I went for these at a tenner. That plus I'd heard the stories about the originals being susceptible to breakage.

Splitter: can't take (full) credit for this as I found an old post from someone else who'd fitted one to their Monaro. Seat Leon Cupra R mk1 splitter, approx £50. Easy fit.

Given the cost, II should really order a second set to keep as spares just in case. Again, like the splitter, I'm not the first to have fitted these particular light units. Another owner on one of the FB groups has had them 2+ years without issue hence me taking the chance on them smile

Looks like i was lucky when i ordered these https://www.ebay.com/itm/NARVA-71840-COMPAC-FOG-LI... ( seller wouldn't ship to the UK, a friend shipped for me )

Narva do still list an 80mm Oval Lamp, but call it a driving lamp, so may have a different beam pattern, so not a true Fog Lamp scratchchin

The bottom driving light is a different part number to the fog light part number, so as you stated the light pattern will be different

Auto bulbs direct UK are the best, not cheap of course but good quality and they work without causing issues.
