The time has come to buy a new starter motor for my VXR8. It is a 57 plate 2007 6.0. There seems to be a lot of choice but I am unsure which is the correct one.
Thinking of buying from here https://www.holmart.com.au/holden-starter-motor-ve...
Or should I just go to Walkinshaws ?

Any advice gratefully received.

I bought a new starter motor in November 2018 for a 2007 LS2 VXR8.

They had it in stock at MW Performance in Chester and posted for about £330

Thanks everyone, I have been searching and I read the starter changed about 2008.5. But I see MW performance are selling the 92202964 as suitable for the 2007. @Shakermikee, is that the one you bought and did it fit ok ?

Rock Auto seems cheaper but I would have to pay import duty etc.

Anyway not so worried about price more concerned with getting the right part.

Thanks everyone.

Hi, yes the one I got from MW Performance fitted fine and solved my issue. Mine wasn't always firing first time and caused issues with mis-fire, traction control etc when it slow started. Not had an issue since fixing the new starter motor.
Needed replacing but I do miss the sound of the knackered one, it had an old school muscle car slow turn over sound then boom fire into life. Needed the reliability of a new one and it's fixed all the issues.

If you go to the FedEx option duties are paid at source ..no import and usually at the door in less than 72 hour

for all your V8 chevy engine parts -Partsworld Perfomance. New s/motor £288.0 inc vat. Apart from electrical terminals most Chevy V8 starters are same. Genuine yank parts. Full year warranty etc. Would not go past them. Walkinshaw good but same starter motor- over 400 quid. Same unit. Im a retired garage owner I love fast cars -I have a Dax Cobra- yes we have expensive power and it will cost- but I still want the proper parts at a reasonable cost. Not a big company ripping you off....I still use Walk for brakes and discs etc cos I have not found anyone else that can supply the brakes at the proper vxr8 spec. And probably wont.

Well new one fitted yesterday and boy what a difference it makes.

@shakermikee " miss the sound of the knackered one, it had an old school muscle car slow turn over sound then boom fire into life"
I fully understand what you mean, even after 3 turns of the key I do miss the old sound, but as you say reliability is the key.

Once again thanks to everyone.
