so car is an ls3 maloo , it’s got the standard mid section exhaust with the two mid section resonators removed , which made it a fair bit louder , the back box is has a small silencer with a bi modal cut out put in , i would rather not change the back boxes as they work well i think they are 2.5 inch bore , if i go bigger bore say a 2.5 plus ? mid section will the noise get louder and deeper or unlikely to change at all , cheers in advance for replies

As far as I'm aware the next size up from 2.5 inch will be a 3 inch dia system usually recommend for cars with 500+HP. If you go too big it may have a negative effect on performance.
My brother has a 5ltr 2016 Mustang. it has headers, sport cats and twin rear silencers all on a 3 inch dia system.
When that thing fires up it literally explodes into life and is very very loud, it takes a minute or two to quieten down a little as the car warms up.
On the road the noise is quite noticeable on the inside of the car with a very slight drone.
My Monaro has pretty much the same layout but with only with a 2.5 inch dia system, as a result it is more sociable on start up and has no drone.
I do have cut outs for 5 mins of fun but to be honest I prefer a lower sounding beefy noise as opposed to something earth shattering.
I would expect a 3 inch dia exhaust on your car to be pretty loud, but it all depends on what you want really.

I think it's loud enough as it is yikes if it's a different tone you're after, mild steel absorbs sound better than stainless so might give a deeper sound, I am wanting a better sound on my ro and hope to replicate the system my lad had on his 1st R8, which was a Walkie system, sounded just right lick

Back when the Ro was a new car, didn't VX offer a Milltek exhaust as a cat-back option. I'm sure I test drove a car with one on and it had VXR engraved into the end tips. I'd say the AAS system I've got is on par with this in terms of its sound.
It sounded pretty deep and beefy, not rudely loud.

surely that's a rhetorical Q... unless it's a top-fueller sitting on your drive then it's all good.

Lincsls1 you may have answered a question I asked myself when looking at a lovely VXR500 for sale at Elite, I noticed the exhaust tips on that car had VXR engraved onto the exhaust tips, so now I know it's a Milltek system thumbup
