Hi there, i have a VXR8 i love the car but find the manual side of the automatic side of the box very slow. I was going to take the car to Walkinshaw racing, they can recalibrate the manual side of the box to give a better gear change. Has anybody had thi done, and is it worth a long trip as i live in Scotland. Cheers H
I believe a fair few have had gearbox remaps done and are of the mind that it has transformed the car. There were only a few options over here to do it, so I would imagine you're fairly safe with Walkies.
There'll be someone along soon enough to vouch for it I imagine, although it's not as busy here as it used to be

I'm also wondering whether this is worth doing at the same time as the air intake and remap package as it will be a £1500 upgrade via Walkinshaw
This will get done once I've upgraded the headers etc

Since you're going to AAS anyway just ask Stuart for a quote for the other mods.
There are various cold air kits available for your car, and he might suggest a Wortec remap for the gearbox.

I remapped the 6L80e myself, transformed it. For the manual modes the only thing I did was to add automatic upshift on redline. In reality I rarely used manual mode. I focussed my effort on sport mode, but making it hang onto lower gears longer to stop it changing up to 4th at 30mph, then it needing to change down two gears when you come out of a roundabout.
I moved 6th up to about 130mph essentially deleting it.
Write up about how i did it here:

I used hptuners, because the likes of monkfish used it, but efilive is just as capable nowadays.
