Last week was the unveiling of Project Monaro, which isn't very exciting tbh.

However, it meant the Monaro related stuff was wheeled out in to the foyer for a day.

The VT concept

One of the two HRT 427s

And Coupe 60

I have to say those are fantastic photo's.
I love the concept coupe, and I sometimes wonder if it's possible to retro fit the rear lights into the production Monaro.
The HRT 427 is mind blowing, what a lovely looking car, it's a shame they only made two of them....mind you they were going to cost over $300,000.00. so it would never have been in my sad little budget.
The coupe 60 concept car is quite impressive, I love the side exhausts and it has an overall Hotwheels look abou it, which I like. The only thing I'm no too keen on is the blunt front end styling, it's not as attractive as the other two cars.
I hope that GM don't build another Monaro as there was some suggestion that they would rebadge a V6 Buick concept car and export them to Australia. That would be a pretty daft idea, but then again we are talking about clueless fools working at GM.

I admit I often day dream about putting a 7 litre engine in my car.
The thought of having a 7ltr Monaro in this day and age fills me with joy!!!! .....as for Mrs mfp4073....er...not so much.
The cost....the madness.....the sheer financial lunacy of it all....but I do wonder?

I'm stroking mine to 6.6 over the winter, but it the reports of it eating the piston skirts turn out to be true and it only the pistons are ruined, I'll likely end up getting a bored out aftermarket or LS7 block, thus 4.125" pistons and the magical 427ci, as yes, for some reason 7 litre just sounds better.

Although if going aftermarket block I'd then be tempted to see how bigger bore you could go... If it ends up lunching lots of parts, then I shall probably set about building the most obnoxiously large LS I can over a very long time, I know they do ludicrously expensive tall deck blocks meaning you can go to a particularly long stroke and break 500ci cloud9

That's a very interesting project you have going on there, you'll definitely have to keep us all updated with your build, this is what owning these cars is all about.
However, I must not give in to the "really dark side" and dream about such things.
That being said If I ever get the opportunity to go crazy with my engine....I'll jump at the chance!!!!!
Oh damn it....I've succumbed to the dark side already!!!!!!

i would be happy with an ls7 in both my cars , an ls9 sounds interesting but i think i would either break something or end up in a hedge somewhere , so i will keep it sensible ish lol , i did catch the modding bug on my monaro 12k£ later but no regrets , a great car to drive , a few mods on the maloo but only small things changed shocks and a vcm otr

Yeah I was always of the mind that I just wanted 500bhp NA, but now that I'm probably around that level with the cam, the fact that I've got the stroker kit on the way and will do a head upgrade at some point, my mind is now wandering dangerously close to a target of 'about 600' hehe

My ute is an auto so it won't be getting any power upgrades, plan will be to sell it in a year perhaps and import a manual one from Aus, and that will be the one that gets supercharged and made extra silly cloud9

That would ideally just leave a Commodore estate to have as a 'sensible' (i.e. unmodified, other than exhaust, obviously) daily, again I'd probably end up having to import one as there are single figures of them over here I believe.

Quite how I will fund all this stupidity I'm not overly sure getmecoat

Last time I was at MF I'm certain they were tending to a rather nice sounding LS7 equipped Monaro. A silver VXR if memory is correct.

From the VT concept? If so that rear end is from a VT calais and should be a direct fit for guards and boot for the big boot Monaro’s.
