My Monaro give me a gentle reminder that I needed some new bonnet struts!!!!!
Obviously trying to get some OEM ones is proving difficult.
I contacted SGS engineering, but they had none listed using the original GM part number I gave them off the strut. I was told to measure my old ones up before they can help.
The question is, did anyone on here get a pair of new struts from SGS, and did they come with the bottom bracket and two retaining bolts?
Thanks in advance.

Would these do? From an Omega but I'm a little unsure if they have the correct spec. Seem to be the correct length with the same 2 bolt base:

Thanks V8 fan, ....they do look the same, even the spec looks right, I just need to measure my old struts first.
Why didn't I think of that? I used to own an Omega!!!!!!!!

Written on the ones on my car iss 719GS 0240N and I'm presuming it means they are 240 Newtons. So the eject force seems correct.

Ice used SGS for my boot ones and wasn't impressed. For the bonnet I used AC Delco ones from Rock Auto. Reuse the existing bolts, or swap for stainless ones like I did.

I can confirm, as of about ten minutes ago when I fitted them, that Febi part number 27627 do indeed fit and work perfectly.

Do they come as a pair when you buy them? Mine started trying to eat me for the first time the other day. Also need to sort the boot struts out...off to the US for work next month so would be a good time to pick some up!

They can be bought separately but I changed both of them.

Bookmarked. Mine haven’t tried to kill me (yet), but they certainly seem less effective in the cold weather. Those Omega struts on eBay – I assume that’s for a pair?

I replaced my boot struts with SGS ones earlier this year. Not overly impressed either – they could easily be stronger/higher force/pressure, but they advised me against doing so. Possibly just a VXR issue due to big heavy spoiler I guess.

I noticed mine were worse when it was cold too.

I can't speak for the ones on ebay, I sourced mine elsewhere.

I've just bought these, plus a set they sell for the boot. Hopefully they will be decent!

Part number you needed was 92047416

These are pretty standard and not something I’d bother chasing an OEM part for.. I replaced mine on my Oz car with an eBay set for under £9.

Just put the boot ones on of these and it feels like there is a lot more force in them. Once it gets to half way a small push up and it pops all the way into the fully open position. Push backs enough as you try and close it although still need to be careful at half way on the way down. Much better than having to hold the thing the whole time though!
