For those that don't know, the pod gauges for the 5.7 VXR are bespoke to this car and are not the same as the ones in the face lifted VXR or later CV8. They do look the same though.
I'm led to believe that the gauges in our 5.7 VXR can fail, I tried to get from a breaker, but no joy - hardly surprising considering the ultra low numbers of this variant.
Anyhow, my volt gauge became intermittent, sometimes just dropping off. A light tap on the dash would bring it back for a while. I initially thought it was the connections behind the gauge, but it turns out to be internal. I thought about re-soldering the joints however...

The VDO 332 010 003k IS the same gauge in all but dial face and needle colour.
The original is 332 010 004 - and cannot be found new.
So, I bought a new one and simply, well sort of! removed the front bezel, carefully removed the needle and face and swapped them over. With a 12volt supply I carefully fitted the original needle to the new gauge and calibrated with the screw in the side. Then I refitted the original silver bezel. All done.
Cost £35, and essentially totally original as opposed to swapping both gauges out for something else.
Removing the old bezel carefully is the hardest part.
If anyone is going to use this don't worry about the orientation of the new gauge, I promise it is the same once swapped over. Our gauges are actually mounted sideways up.

My oil pressure gauge is fine, however the same would apply and VDO 350 010 016 is its replacement if needed.
You could just buy 2 new gauges, not swap anything over and fit. Or buy 2 totally different ones. That would create a small wiring job then. Depends on your thoughts and opinions I like them stock.
Hope this may help someone. smile

That's useful info. I have a set of pod gauges staring at me from my shelf which I need to run wiring for as my 04 CV8 doesn't have any. I'm not in fact sure if the ALDL carries oil pressue info on my car, but I will find out one way or another !

I fitted a different pod. A lot smoother looking ,suits the cv8 better imo . I had to run a wire and tap a sender in to a blank plate near the filter. It's well documented. Fancied something different
