Hi guys.
How do the engine mounts on a Monaro usually hold up? My cars got 82k on the clock, I've booked it in for headers and sports cats and thought might be good time to change these out if they're likely to be well past it as the access will be better.
Thoughts please?

One of mine had collapsed / split open after 60,000 miles, although the engine noticeably flopped about well before then so I couldn't tell you when it had actually gone.

For reference yes no exhausts would make it easier but it is very possible to do it with everything in situ and nothing more than an engine lift to bring it up enough to get the old ones out. Watch for air con / power steering lines when lifting it up / down thumbup

I went for the Hinson Motorsports poly mounts, personally I don't find the additional NVH particularly noticeable / intrusive, but these things are very subjective. Realistically I prefer it with a bit more NVH, so YMMV.

I also put on a new transmission mount at the same time that I'd done the 'WindowWeld' mod to, which is filling the gap in the middle of it with an American product called WindowWeld, basically a squeezable polyurethane that sets in about 24 - 48 hours. The gearshift has never felt so good.

At around 66000 miles I have never checked mine, the engine seems nice and steady and dosent jump about. I think Pedders UK have them, but I'm not sure if they are standard or not.
I did read somewhere if you uprate to poly engine mounts you need to uprate the gearbox mount at the same time?

I have no cause for concern about the mounts, I was just wondering if they are known to be shot after a certain period, or a common weak spot (like the prop bearing) and since having the headers done thought it might make sense.
I'd only change them for OEM, the gearbox mount is new.

Engine mounts only isn't such a big deal, it's if you only upgrade the gearbox mount you have cause for concern.

It's the engine that does the twisting around, if the engine can flop freely but the gearbox mount is stiff, you put twisting forces through the bell housing which isn't ideal. Stiffer engine mounts just mean the engine doesn't move as much, so a relaxed hold on the gearbox isn't much of an issue.
