Anyone got the spec for the Monkfish Magic Cam 1 spec please.

I’ve had it in the car for years and thinking about going a bit more aggressive but can’t find the spec anywhere.

As far as I can remember MF did two cam packs ( called Magic cams ) one was an easy pass for an MOT, and the other more powerful cam would just about scrape through the emissions test.
As previously stated MF did not disclose their cam specs.

You could try asking Monkfish1 if he would divulge the info, now that they no longer deal in cams and fitting?

Have asked previously for a friend, answer was:

"Realy depends on its age. Was a bit of an evolution. 220 ish is about as specic as i can be. The actual cam card will be with the paper copy of invoice. Which if its more than 7 years ago will be long gone."

Thanks chaps
Got hold of Roger, and yes similar answer 216/224ish they played with LSA and lift more than anything recommended GT9 or GT11 as an upgrade.

Tempted with a set of LS6 heads and more aggressive blower cam

What engine do you have? Looks like a 5.7 LS1 with Harrop 122 ?

The cam you have should work well as I had one very similar to that, I currently have a GT9, it's mild mannered at idle and likes to rev. You'll need to upgrade your springs though due to the lift.

Dont go for dual springs though just use standards unless you love valve bounce

Go with LPE dual springs which is what’ Lingenfelter themselves recommend.

How many rebuilds did your engine take?

Duals are not required and cause slap.

I am supercharged still running a NA cam would love to upgrade to a cam that would suite my set up.

Was going to go with the fish before they closed.

Not sure I could trust anyone to carry out this, as it's not just a question of the cam, it would be remap fuel upgrade etc.

My car drives perfect with no issues whatsoever, but can't help feeling I am not getting the best from what I have.

I would trust TopCats racing, they know these engines inside out and Wortec do their tuning

Result! smile

Also AAS in Newcastle very good with these cars, certainly do the cam change, not sure if they can sort the tuning though.

When I spoke to AAS about something different to do with my VXR8 they said that they have someone very good that they work with to do the tuning.

I would happily use AAS for significant engine work after using them for service and exhaust work a few times now.
Incredibly straight forward to get to as well which is a bonus.

Mines an 99 LS1 5.7, with a Harrop 112, with the 75mm pulley and magic cam it made 580bhp Fly at SRR back in 2012. Valve springs were changed with the cam, not duals, they cam from PAC through Monkfish.

It drives superb and is so fast with a 3.08 rear end and only weighing approx 1200kg.

I need to take the motor out this winter and was looking at fitting LS6 heads and maybe swapping the cam. It revs easily to 7k rpm, although obviously past max power so I’m thinking of a larger cam to tip the power curve, would be good to see a power number starting with a 6 from the little blower.

The 112 is maxed out not looking to upgrade it further as limited to 255 rear tyres although R888R hook really well.

My God that must be terrifying, why would you want more?

Heads don’t make that much difference on FI cars but I had good results with ported 243 GM (LS2) castings and they are cheap if you can find them. AFR or TFS also work well but more expensive.

A TVS1900 would be a nice upgrade if you can get one with cathedral intake ports.

Assuming you have forged pistons? If not, forget the above as these are most definitely the weakest part and you’ll need to get them done first.

Don’t expect much more from a different cam, the one you have won’t be the bottleneck, I’ll be the blower.
