I’m thinking about fitting a Pedders low suspension kit (not super low) to my 04 CV8 Monaro but I’d like an idea of how low it will look afterwards (25 mm i’ve been quoted).

Does anyone have any photos of a Monaro fitted with this kit please so I can get an idea of how it will look?

I find pedders low suspension OK for day to day driving. Mind you if you carry passengers, with a boot full of luggage and a full fuel tank it really is low......but you can buy spacers for the rear springs to raise the ride height if needed.

Here’s mine (on the old wheels) with Pedders low on the back and super low on the front. Sorry about the photobucket logo!

Why did you change the wheels, they look good.

That should have read ‘Here’s my old Monaro with the old wheels’ I’ve actually got another one now but it’s not on super low Pedders at the front, just low all round thumbup

Thanks for the replies. What concerns me is that my suspension is now old and any lowering kit I might add won’t actually make much ride height difference.

Don't worry about that. I guess you're talking about sagging springs. Yes, maybe a little, but not the same effect as the lowering kits at all.
For example I'm pretty confident that my VXR is riding on its original springs n struts and I can clearly see that Monarodom's VXR is lower than mine just from his pictures so the effect on your CV8 will be even more so.

I’ve been thinking about replacing the suspension on the Monaro for a couple of years now but can never decide what route to go down.

I quite like the idea of a fixed ride height but stuck on low or super low.
My car only does a few hundred miles each year so I’m leaning towards super low, at least that way there will definitely be a noticeable difference in ride height.
I think Monkfish once said that the low kit is pretty close to the standard ride height?

Compare my standard height Ro to the silver VXR on low above...
What do you think?

Obviously the low kit is going to have less of an effect on a VXR compared to CV8, but I think its reduced it by another 10-15mm.

Finally got my CV8 suspension lowered to how I wanted it to look. It now sits on 2151 springs on the front and 2643’s on the rear, giving a nice low and level stance but still very useable. Also went for new top mount bearings, top mounts, top mount plates (mine were absolutely shot - see photo) plus anti roll bar links, all supplied by Pedders.

It has to be said that Pedders were very accommodating and helpful with my needs, plus also the usual good service from my local garage Autostore near Cambridge who came by recommendation by another Ro owner and fitted the suspension plus reset the geometry. They are getting to know my car pretty well having already fitted a complete clutch kit for me and carried out a service.

A good job all round TBH.

Yikes! They were certainly ready. Good job you had ordered them up as part of the kit otherwise there'd have been delays.
So, what's the ride like now?
I also don't see the 2151 listed on their website so what's that spring all about?

TBH I hadn’t ordered them rolleyes it was only after the garage removed them that I had to order them separately.

The ride is a little firmer obviously but it feels more ‘planted’ on the road if you know what I mean. Although I’ve yet to take it on a good run.

I had the same when I replaced mine, should have mentioned it earlier in the thread...apologies! The originals were an absolute state but pedders were brilliant and got a set delivered first thing the following morning smile

Managed to take the Ro for a good run on Thursday on some straight plus winding up and down roads in Beds, and bloody hell I love this car. Yes it’s only an 04 CV8 but the way it handles, sounds, drives and in 2nd and 3rd pulls out of corners, means I didnt stop grinning from start to finish.

The new setup means it feels much more stable and planted on the road with less ‘bounce’. Only on the really rough surfaces of some B and C roads does it feel less than comfortable, but then it’s just a case of remembering where they are and staying away. But give it a reasonably smooth road, for a fifteen year old big heavy car it handles bloody well. An upgrade of brakes would I’m sure take the fun factor a step further hehe.
