May i ask what prices have monaro ro owners have paid or been quoted for a full respray on their cars
I am looking at prepare primer base and clear coat 2 pak
I presume wheels would be separate
XVXR8 or CV8 prices would be interesting to hear about also
Do other owners have preference on water based vs 2 pak and paint types etc
Thank you for any ideas responses

Ears pricked up!
Looking to have my car refreshed at some point. Was quoted £3500 - thought was a bit steep. This was glass in.
How far are you taking it? Doors off? Glass and trims off? Trouble is the trims etc. are so expensive if they need replacing and hard to source.
Very true if I was doing would have to have all new trim available before respray, otherwise surely not worth doing, there would be to many niggles for me.Looking to have my car refreshed at some point. Was quoted £3500 - thought was a bit steep. This was glass in.

Experience tells me if anyone is thinking of a respray better to sell and wait for a better car to come up, be easier on the wallet.
You'll not get much for £500 I'm afraid.
Although, my quote of £3500 for a basic re-spray I think can be bettered.
To be fair, I had my 1993 300zx re-spray a few years ago, the glass stayed in along with some window trim. They have special bits n pieces for masking off really well and it was a very good job. I was very happy with it despite similar concerns at the time.
It stayed looking well for the years I had it and it sold to the first person that saw it come sale time.
Everyone commented on the excellent condition of the car at various meets, shows etc..
I bet it can be done for £2-2.5k.

Most cars of this age, especially of this type have a good amount of road rash across the front end, along with a few marks else where. This doesn't make them bad cars! Loads of cars have had paint over the years, front end re-sprays, smart repairs etc. Surely a full (quality) blow over has got to be better than a series of other paint repairs where this will be apparent?
All depends what you want..I assume it's not a bare metal respray. The money is ALWAYS in the prep, so how much prep is there to do. Personally id suggest if you want a good job, go for a glass out, doors, boot lid, spoiler and doors and front wings off. Make sure the shut lines are all done too. For that its going to be £3-£3.5K i'd think

Just had mine powered coated for £260 including stripping and bead blasting first.
Washford Finishing in Redditch did a phenomenal job of my standard 19"s in Shadow Chrome (Powder coated) for £180 for all 4. They did a huge amount of work on my last car so I would highly recommend them. Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
