Ripshift

From my photo when fitting a ripshift do i need to take anything else off the gearbox or will it sit on where the om shift was situated

I have a suspicion that i need to remove that other plate that is still insitu

Any help appreciated

When refitting gearbox does it matter if in neutral or in gear I heard once that putting in 3rd helped installation
