Hi all

Just some advise please. AC system fully discharged of gas since last year on my Monaro vxr 55 plate. AC engineer done a pressure test and found a leak near the top of the high pressure pipe. He seems to think it’s the pressure sensor. Spoke to Vauxhall’s as monkfish have closed but they couldn’t help. Any ideas if this is common and/or are we on the right track by thinking it’s a sensor?

Cheers

All three of my Monaros leaked from the same pipe.

The one that runs along the passenger chassis rail, over the front and into the cylinder in front of the AC rad. Not sure if this is the high pressure side?

One rubbed on the frame, the others cracked where they connect to the cylinder.

is it worth trying to patch it if you can’t get a new pipe a bit of rubber pipe and see if it works i’m pretty certain it’s the low pressure side i would thought rubber would work ?

Walkinshaw may have them in stock.
Maybe worth getting in touch with Dave Elston there and see if you can send him a photo across showing what you need?

Surely if he done a pressure test and spotted the leak....he could say whether it was the sensor or not ?

as above , no reason if it’s the thin pipe and low pressure that a repair could not be tried if a new pipe can’t be sourced via walkinsaw etc , to protect mine i removed the air box and cut a fuel pipe in half plus a bit of wd40 and slipped it over the pipe , it’s difficult to see if it’s rubbing it tends to just fail, so my fix is preventative maintenance , good luck with getting a new pipe i’m sure some one has them , i had a bit of an issue of trying to seal it when i did a new pipe and since sold the car on

You could try Neil Johnson on here. He and Brett (Speed4u) bought nearly all of the Monkfish stock between them.

Thankyou everyone for the advice. I’m having her looked at this week as the original diagnosis was a little vague and needs further investigation. Will keep you posted. Regards

Hi, the diagnosis of leaks should have involved a tank of nitrogen with green dye. The leaks is made obvious by the green liquid.
If it's in a section of pipe that you can use these on https://www.amazon.com/Metal-Line-Splice-Repair-Ki...
Air con pipe is fairly standard, I found a low pressure section out of a volvo for mine and spliced accordingly in a separate repair.
I would recommend this, but if that's not possible, the following will be of help.

SPLICE LOK was the actual brand I used - available in a variety of sizes,

Seen here in action where my radiator hose jubilee clip rubbed a hole in one of my lines in 2014. It has held since then.

Just an update. The high pressure gas pipe had been rubbing against the larger low pressure pipe resulting in a minute fracture. Part ordered from Walkinshaw and fitted with protective sleeve between the pipes this weekend.

New pipe, needed a few adjustments in reshaping the pipe to get on to the receiver dryer.
