I am looking for a replacement section for my centre console. It's the outer grey colour plastic section that clips on the outer part of the upper section of the centre console. It's for a Monaro VXR 2005 model year. The paint on the outer parts of the trim on mine seems to be worn and clips are not holding it in place very well either.

If anyone has one for sale let me know as I would be interested as long as it's in really good condition with all clips intact. wink

Oh yeah, never realised that myself.
my 5.7 VXR has a carbon fibre effect outer trim that runs behind the dials, looks like the 6.0 VXR has a silver outer trim that runs across the front of the dials.

I actually prefer the piano black trim that comes on the CV8 models to either the CF effect or bright silver trim.

Its the facelift one for the Monaro VXR in a carbonish grey. Its the very outer section that clips around the console on the very outside

It has metal clips to hold it in place?
You could try and widen the clips with a small screwdriver so they stay in place better.
You can adjust them too well and make it nearly impossible to remove the trim!!
ie Don't refit it until you have sorted out what you want to do with the trim.
Maybe repaint it?

That's exactly the one. I'm looking to replace mine as the edges are all worn for some reason. Pretty odd why to be fair. Either that or one of the owners and his missus were real porkers laugh

The clips are not great to be fair, so I'm looking to get it replaced. I can't see that getting it painted would look any good. The other option I might explore is hydrodipping but then I need to change all of the interior plastic to suit as just doing the centre would look a bit pony in my opinion.

Do you have a 6.0 VXR? I thought the 6.0 VXR came with the silver trim.
Mine did.

That pic of the interior where the car door is open, it seems to show the outer dash console trim as being just grey and not a grey carbon effect, is that right or just the way it appears in the picture?

That is a picture of my old car - a 56 plate VXR 6.0 litre. Build no.221 so quite a late one. The trim around the centre console and ALSO the speedo surround trim was a bright silver, looks grey in the photo though.
The was the same in all of the VXR 6.0 cars I viewed not just mine.

Now my current VXR 5.7 has a grey carbon effect centre console trim, the speedo surround is plain black. And I have extra pod gauges above.
I believe this to be the same effect on the early CV8 cars too, but without the pods above.
The later CV8 cars came with a piano black trim and extra pod gauges too.
Strange you have a 6.0 litre car with CF effect instead of bright silver.

Perhaps I explained the colour of mine wrongly. I was saying mine is a carbon grey but in actual fact it is exactly the same as the one in the picture. To be frank I had forgotten as car has been in the garage now for a good few months and after checking today yes exactly the same as in the pic...so apologies I'm old and my memory is clearly shi** biggrin

I am 2 minds as to what to do with mine as I need to get something done with it. Hydrodipping seems the most logical route but i'm not sure I want carbon trim inside, unless I can get something hydrodipped that looks close to OEM of course. I know a really good guy who does hydrodipping so I will ask him when I see him.
