My Ro has always been looked after by MF. But am now considering getting a local chap to do it. He's very knowledgeable and I know he'll do a good job. Question is will it affect the future value/saleability of my car?

All opinions appreciated as usual

I wouldn’t imagine so and even if it was going to there’s not much you can do about it anyway so there’s no point worrying smile

I can definitely see a full Monkfish service history being desirable 3 or 4 years ago but as the cars get older it won’t have the same draw.

My car has been looked after by the same local independent for the last 11 years.

Plus, it’s an old Vauxhall. If resale value is a concern, trade it in for a nice E46 M3.

I would agree with the above post, one of the other well known garages that look after our cars is probably slightly more desirable when buying but I would doubt it would have a detrimental effect on second-hand value as there are not that many for sale.

Thanks for replies. That's pretty much what I was thinking tbh so will go with my local chap. My car is a keeper unless I'm forced to sell for some reason

If I saw a Monaro for sale with a full Vauxhall service history then I would be worried!!!!!
If you have a good clean car with all the receipts for the maintenance carried out that will speak for itself come resale time.
As I've mentioned before my brother has a 2016 Mustang GT, it's been back to the Ford dealer a few times for warranty work.....a more useless bunch would be hard to imagine.....those of us who had Monaros when they were under warranty....Ford are no different with the Mustang.

I wouldnt really trust an service history unless I actually knew the person servicing it and trusted their abilities. And main dealers would be well down any list of trusted people.

Other than the obvious incompetence...what one person deems a service and what others deem a service are often very different things.

^ This. It's not worth the paper it's written on unless you believe in fairies.

Don't worry about it, I do my own servicing so at least I know it's done properly.
