I just noticed today that the stitching at the top of the rear seat has all bust, I presume this has been caused by our unusally hot summer is this a common problem and is it easily enough repaired by a " leathernan" who repairs suites as we do have a guy over here that does that type of work.

Yes, the rear seat stitching falling apart is a common issue on a Monaro.
I thought I had got away with it until last year, when I noticed the stitching near the head rest had unravelIed.
I took the seat back out and dropped it off at a local auto trimmers and had both sides redone. I think it was about £80.00 to repair.
The problem is the angle of the rear window lends it self to frying the rear seat.
Make sure you apply plenty of leather cream to keep it all supple. If I have to leave the car out in the sun I usually just cover the rear seat with a dog seat cover to protect it.

From what I remember...I'm getting old....you remove the bottom of the seat first by pulling the two tabs, one on each side of the seat. These are usually hidden at the base of the seat. Once released lift out lower seat from the car. The seat back is removed by removing the two lower bolts, again one on each side, ( I think there is only two ) then pull the seat upwards then towards you. It's just a reversal to fix it all back together.

As above it's very common, they all do that sir

My rear windows are tinted now with the hope that it won't do the same again, surprising for an Australian car it goes wrong in the sun!

I actually bought mine with the rear seats split I think, I didn't notice it for ages until I was filling up with fuel and spotted it one day hehe
