I have just replaced all the bearings and side carriers in my diff, as the front pinion bearing was shot and the carriers were seized.
Does the pattern in the images look okay? Sorry to ask this is my first diff rebuild?

My thoughts are coast side looks good, however the drive side looks like the pinion depth might need adjusting?

There are a lot of online guides for such things with good pictures, although getting such good visuals on your own gears isnt always so easy

But for pinion depth, that is something that should also be measured during install ? Was it at the correct depth ?

Were there any shims on the original pinion ? OEM tend to use the same shim depth so if replacing with OEM gears it's highly likely correct depth will be using that same shim again.

if non OEM, then it will definitely need measured one way or another.

The gear set has not been changed just the bearings, crush washer, seals and side carriers. I have reused the shim that was under the rear pinion race so I assume the pinion depth should be the same as it was previously?
The reason for the pinion depth question was the pattern looks closer to the heel edge on the drive side. But I have just reviewed the guide I was following and think I misunderstood how the depth effects the pattern.
Based on my new understanding I think the pattern looks okay. So I’m just going to re-check the backlash and overall preload and if they are good it’s going back in.

In that case I'd just worry about setting the lash correctly, as pinion depth will not have changed any significant amount to cause any worry.

Look spot on to me. Using the same shim I never check the pattern just the lash. I use 4-6 thou. BTW I use this oil for helical gear diffs:Millers CRX 75W140NT

The specification on Millers oil seems quite good, I wonder how it comparis to Castrol synthetic SAF XJ 75w 140 ?
The reason I ask is I've just used the Castrol oil for my Wavetrac.
