ls2 heads on to ls1
Discussion
I'm far from an expert, but as far as I know LS2 cylinder heads will fit an LS1 without any problems. They do flow more air than a stock LSI, but I would look to get a pair of heads that have been ported/ polished just to get the max out of them. I'm not sure about the fitments of the inlet manifold but the LS1 is regarded as being slightly better than a stock LS2.

Think there were some heads for sale recently on FB

But really...buying standard heads to swap would seem a little pointless given expense and labour involved.
If you're going to do it, as others say at least get some heads that have seen proper work done, and even with crappy exchange rates some offerings from the US are still good value.

Simple reply:
Yes they will fit straight on and yes they will be better.
If you are not doing the work yourself the gains wont be worth it. If you are getting the heads cheap , and are doing it yourself add a cam while you're at it. (Then allow for a tune)
PS keep the (LS6) intake you have, it will be a lot better than the later LS2 version that came with the 6.0L 243 heads
BTW K-Tech in the states are offering CNC porting for LS heads for $499, this will improve the 243's a great deal, but you have to get them there and back.
Also be aware that your costs will include a new set of head gaskets and a full set of head bolts as they are toque to yield (stretch fit) so one use only. You could buy ARP items.
Hope this helps?

Hi ,
Im in Melbourne Australia , have you guys looked into getting gear from here for your monaros and ls engines.
I would have thought with the Exchange rate and the fact they were designed and built it here.
Quality and bang for buck pulse be hard to beat, as we are a small performance market only the best stay in business.
Look at higginsraceheads.com for Ready to go CNc heads that I know for a fact get results. Plenty of 12,11,10 and even 9 sec na lsengines here.
Ive got a 530hp na 5.0 rover v8 with hand ported ta heads , Which is as rare here as I presume monaroes are there.
If you want to spend premium $$ for oem quality and developed performance parts look at harrop.com.au
