LS3 - How much oil and which filter part number?

Morning all, I'm sure this has been discussed previously but I can't find anything definitive through the search tool or google.

How much oil does the LS3 in a VXR8 need (standard car)? I've read 8.2 and 8.3 litres. Opie Oils do a service pack which supplies just 8 litres. Can anyone confirm this.

Also, which (part no.) Royal Purple filter is correct for the LS3?

Rock auto do the filters they arrive pretty quick from memory pf48? , they are what the Fish used to use , they are blue in colour ,and are not expensive , oil wise 8 litres should be enough to fill but buy more for top up , last time i looked fluid levels are still shown on MF website

Thanks for your help. I deduced that pf48 translates to 10-48 in RP speak so ordered this along with a slight oversupply of RP oil.

Why are you getting Royal Purple oil and filters? Any make of filter will do the job and as long as you use the right grade of oil any make should do!

Yes, PF48 is correct. I think they are actually all PF48E's now as the prefix came about when they changed from the metal to plastic internal insert. The Vauxhall dealer number is 19303975. They show as £10.46 for the 19303975 from GPS with free delivery.

The other easiest ones to source seem to be the K&N ones -
K & N HP-1017 with nut
K & N PS-1017 without nut
K & N SS-1017 Billet with washable stainless filter

Just seen a PS-1017 for £8.92 on ebay - £8.39 on K&N UK website but you have to pay shipping on orders under a tenner..
I've used the HP-1017 ones before and they seem fine.
The billet one looks cool but it's a whopping £254.95 on the UK K&N website.
