A-Plan were the best for me, very competitive and able to tailor the cover to exactly what I needed.
I also had their breakdown/recovery service, which was very competitively priced over the usual options. I had to call upon it twice, and they were excellent on both occasions. They had no issues sending a low loading flatbed truck and transporting the car directly to Walkinshaw's, over 3 hours drive away from where I was at the time, at no extra cost.

I'm with Sky also and have been for a few years now. Had been with A-Plan for many a year prior to getting the VXR8. Once I had it, they directed me to the Newbury branch but they wouldn't insure it. Tried them a year later and we're very expensive. Flux wouldn't do it either due to mileage.
I do about 25-30K a year and that's what scared most other insurers off. I like my car, I drive it a lot - simples.

That is some going, but how on Earth do manage to clock up that kind of mileage? I think the most I ever covered was around 7000. At the moment I try to cover 3 / 4000 miles a year ( 6 months really ) as I don't use it in the winter.I do about 25-30K a year and that's what scared most other insurers off. Well it's a daily driver - I see no joy in having a car I like and not driving it. Working shifts, I sometimes do 100+ miles before work 'just going for a drive'.The other week, I woke up and decided in 5 minutes to go to Gaydon. That's a quick 200 mile round trip. I've even gone to Haynes breakfast meet on the spur of the moment - 136 miles each way. Numerous car shows, PH meets etc and it soon adds up.
I just missed seeing 80K come up on the dash but looked the other day and it's 82.5K already. As long as it still makes me smile - which it does - I have no plans to restrict my driving. £8K annual petrol bill is a bit of a biggie but it goes with the car eh. I don't count anymore - one year was logged just for the amusement factor. I can stick £200 in it in a weekend...

Same here, mines a daily driver and I clock up 1000 miles/month just going to and from work, and then there’s the meets and going for a drive just for the hell of it as I enjoy my car, and weekends away etc, etc. As you say, I can stick £200 in it in a weekend and I don’t count the cost anymore, in the first month of my ownership I’d done more miles than the previous owner had done in a year.
