I gave a good friend of mine the fright of his life today, he had come over to visit us and I took him a run over the mountain where we have no speed limit, we came up to the gooseneck which is a fairly tight right hand bend and the passenger door opened and the poor sod nearly fell out, it wouldn't shut so I pulled over at a safe location and noticed the door handle was sticking out but would not go back in, I tried everything but no joy eventually I put the window up and as soon as I did the handle went back in, put the window down the handle comes out. Has anyone else come across this and anything I should know about removing the door card or is it pretty straight forward.

Didn't know they put doors on motorbikes! hohoho

Sounds like the door card has been removed recently before??? Can only guess something is caught around the metal releasing rod inside the door.
Door cards are not too difficult to remove.
Use your fingers to hold onto some of the screws as you undo them otherwise they go into the depths of the door!
Electric window switch, trying to remember that part, think you can push it out from behind when you have removed the internal door handle and its back cover.
Not sponsored by them so not quite a conflict of interest!

The car was in for service but I doubt they had the door card off,I am sure there will be a good reason for it once I get it off. Many thanks for the links that is a huge help.

I have had the worst birthday ever, first I find my radiator is burst then I I get the door card off which was fine I found out the window was hitting the door handle rod which in turn was opening the door on right hand corners. I have been on it all day I have removed the handle mechanism but the window is very slow to go up if you adjust the two bolts that are part of the winder mechanism it goes better one way but then is very slow the other way and I have tried it in all different positions. As it is the passenger side I would not have thought the winder mechanism would be that worn as the car has only done 30k miles but I can't think of anything else any pointers would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end with it.

Just a couple of thoughts, if the motor is moving the window slower than normal, I would be checking for anything binding inside the door. Make sure everything is clean and nothing's bent, twisted or moved out of alignment, lube up all the moving parts and check all the wiring and connections for corrosion. It's possible the motor is damaged somehow if it's been over loaded, but in reality that's unlikely. Don't forget to check that there is nothing binding with the actual glass in its runners in the top part of the door frame....just in case.

I have been on it from lunchtime until 8.30 pm and have lost the will to live, the glass does not appear to be coming down straight, I also took the door handle off for a better view but the metal rod that comes off the handle to open the lock fell off and every way I put it on the rod pops out the plastic clip on the handle, I may be missing something obvious as my head is pounding now but should there be a star clip or something on the end of the rod that goes through the plastic clip.

I have managed to suss out what I was doing wrong with the door handle opener I think my head was just fried yesterday. I will check everything again on the window mechanism but I could not see anything obvious.
