Importing HSV Maloo Europe

Hello.

New guy here, i come seeking advice and information.
I have been in love with the Australian Ute since i first saw it.

Want to get one for the road in Norway.

I know there are some registered for the road in the UK. Contacted HSV and asked them.
Aside from the fact that the cars are RHD(Which shouldn't be a problem) do you guys know of any obstacles to importing a HSV Maloo and getting it road legal?

TBH I know nothing about this but I would have thought that the easiest (and cheapest) way would be to find a good one in the UK and go from there?

Havent been able to find one thats 2008+ for sale in the UK.

I imagine that it would be the easiest way. According to EU-Regulations which Norway have to follow, if the imported car was road legal in any EU country it has to be approved in Norway.

However, if the Vauxhall version of the Maloo wasn't changed to much. It should be possible to get a Maloo from down-under approved in Norway. I am currently waiting to hear back from the Norwegian DMV.

If the Maloo treatment is anything like the Monaro / Commodore treatment, all they did was put a Vauxhall badge on the bonnet so hopefully it won't be too difficult whatever route you take. Good luck, snowy Maloo pictures are a must

Many have done it here. There's one Ute here that seems to be taking ages to get sorted.

You may have a problem with headlights as the beam bias in the UK is opposite to what you want. I don't believe that US headlights have a bias so they won't help either.

I understand that WPUK have been involved in the certification aspect of many HSV's on behalf of Vauxhall and also on behalf of private owners for one-off imports into the UK. This would be a good place to ask for help.

Hi guys, Ive been busy with life stuff, so i completely forgot about posting here, i heard from the Norwegian DMV today(they are slow..)

The translated reply goes something like this:
Every vehicle that is to be registered in the EU must be E-typeapproved or otherwise have documentation that the vehicle satisfy current regulations(of the eu/norway)
This also applies with one-time approvals. (skipping a part here which involved registering cars for preservation purposes, have to bring the car to them)
If the vehicle is approved in a different Eu country it should be possible to register it in Norway.

The last sentence means, any HSV Maloo from the UK is road legal in Norway.

If i manage to acquire a Maloo. I will deliver. High up in the snowiest mountains in Norway

Thanks for the tips guys. Do you know what £ price range i might be looking at to a acquire a Maloo in the UK? Also, any1 know the NoX - emissions of a 2007-2010 modell?

CO2 is 362 g/km if that helps , prices are varied depending on what you are looking for , Walkinshaw possibly still import for you or see what comes up for sale in the uk

Yeah, i contacted walkinshaw. Havent heard back yet. Well, i am looking for a 07+ Maloo R8 any color tbh.

Edit: what is the "best" used cars ads site in the UK?

I may sell mine at some point but no plans at the mo , when i got mine there were two up for sale , it’s just a bit of a waiting game , personally i would just keep checking ads , there was a yellow one up a while ago don’t know where that went too
