So I did an oil & filter change and check over at the weekend on the Ro ready for its mot on Saturday as it's coming out of hibernation after 18 months! yikes
It's a 2006 vxr 6.0 and has a Wortec cat back rest of the system is std and I've noticed the front pipes that connect the cats to the Wortec system are really corroded and the o/s pipe has a black stain on the bottom so I suspect it's not long before its gonna leak.
Here's the questions........
Can I, would anyone replace the corroded pipes, are they obtainable?
Do I bite the bullet and replace the manifolds and cats, I don't really want to decat as surely this causes emissions problems?
Any ideas on costs?
Anybody got any pics showing before after under the car?

Mine's just coming out of hibernation after a similar period!

I have AAS headers (so mid length), and just replaced the cat section (which pairs up to the Wortec X-pipe), couple of pics of the section I mean and underside shot.

AAS can make them up on a jig and post them to you now, so they don't need the car. No cats will cause emissions problems, yes.

Didn't quite make it through MOT unfortunately, got a tie rod end and some rear pads to replace smile

Hi James thanks for the info might go down the AAS route in time sorry to hear yours failed its mot but good to hear you've still got it.
I had another look today and found there is a small split in the o/s pipe but only a tiny leak when cold once it's hot it expands and seals you can see the line in the pics.
Will see what happens on the mot but it can only get worse, are these pipes still available or does anybody have one kicking about after replacing their headers?
If not I might see if it can be welded.

I would try the weld option probably a lot cheaper and less hassle

as long as it is not blowing it should pass with an advisory for corrosion but not sure if advisories are being got rid of in the new regulations coming out

Well good news....... Car passed its mot on Saturday no problems and no advisories! clap
So gonna try some Quick Steel on the front pipe see if that works to stop the leak expanding.
Great to be out driving it again after 18 months stored away thumbupdriving

Mine too, have done 200 miles already, and probably put about 1,000 miles worth of wear on the rears hehe
